Morning everyone.
I know nothing about these plants. I purchased a beauty about 4 years ago and put it on my deck for the summer. It seemed to love it there and gave me lovely blooms.
In the fall, it was still blooming, so I brought it inside, where it bloomed all winter. I repotted as needed and now I have a huge 4ft plant with flowers.
So what is the problem? It is like a 4ft almost bare tree with flowers. I started to pinch a few ends off last year (hard, because there are buds all over) and it did branch out in that area. But...
Is it too late? Can I trim it down in the spring?
Am I just a bad hibiscus mommy?
Newbie at this. Please help with an older plant
Here's a thread about pruning--Robert and Barry are two of our experts around here and they both posted some advice here. Hopefully it gives you what you need!

Thank you so much!!!!
Also, if you have spidermites, your hibs can go bare. If you can find some, spray "Bayers 3 in 1" on the branches. Do this 3 times, one week apart from each other and you should start to see a difference.
Thanks, I will ck that out.
Just wanted to say that I cut the plant back. Way back.
It seems to be doing well, and there are new little leaves coming out all over.
I think it will look nice again by the time it goes back out on the deck this spring.
Thanks again for all the help.
I wanted to update this thread.
I had cut the plant back about 4' (yes 4 feet)
The leaves started popping out all over. Now I have had my first bloom again. It is not as full as it was when young, but sooooo much better. Thanks for all the help.
I will be cutting it again next year. I have a much healthier plant.
