CLOSED: Have a sabe from San Augustine Tx???

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I'm cleaning my seeds out and found a sabe from here and have no idea what I was sending back lol It's been a while, please someone tell me what I was to send before I get rid of all of my seeds! No name just an address on the return label....

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

LeBug -- that happened to me once... though i guess i did at least have a name.
i went in the Exchange and looked up the town... then scanned the names to see what would jump out at me.

since many do not have their first name in the user name... but it worked for me.

and it's another reason i started using the "trade tracker"
very helpful in keeping track of trades that have not been completed on one or both ends.

LOL I had a thread going for pink hibiscus and joe pye weed I'm just hoping it was one of those if I don't hear from them that's what they are getting :) I don't have the time to go thru all of that right now with this swap Suzy has going lol I may try that if I don't hear from some one thanks for the tip tcs! lol

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Ahhhhhhhh, the Suzy Swap!! Too funny... but I'm done... just finishing up cleaning out my Dmail Inbox from all that maddness.

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

done?!?!?!!? already?!?!!?!

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

shipped off my giant bubble envie this morning.

i diddn't have too much to offer on my end... just wait til next year.... and pretty much found what i wanted pretty early on.

plus... my eyes and head are tired. LOL.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

DONE!!! No way lol It's the craziest swap I've ever been in and cleaning my seeds out nicely but no where near DONE lol

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I got all mine cleaned and actually organized before i found the Suzy Swap ... so i guess i may have been one step ahead. ... but i do have the impression... most of these peeps have 100 fold of what i have.

this fall, when i started harvesting seeds... i made it a habit to come right in, time permitting, and get those seeds cleaned and put away... someone mentioned to me about 'cone shaped' coffee filters, and i've been putting the seeds in there and they are all in a big basket.

whoops... seems the thread has been hi-jacked. ;-)
this Suzy Swap stuff is just everywhere in the Forum now.

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I think that hijack is my fault - SORRY!!!

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I don't mind I chimed in too lol I'm just waiting for the person I started the thread for to chime in :)

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Hopefully they will see the thread and realize it is for them.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Tell me one thing how do you organize your seeds when you bring them in the house cleaning and all I end up with seed everywhere! Usually it's seed that has a lot of chaf in them and some take days to clean! lol

I'm hoping they see this thread too lol

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

oh yeah... and dont ever sneeze!!

i did that once, luckily i was still outside, but, sneezed a handful of Coreopsis into my rose bushes.

I guess it's still easy for me as I do not have a wide variety of plants.
and I'd pretty much only do one variety at a time -- so if i'm loading up my pockets, since i didnt think to grab a baggie when i went out.... other wise, i'd use one of those #1 deli containers ... dump them out in portions on to the wax paper... and just start sorting - seeds from chaf ... makes it easier if the boob-tube is on for some distraction.

and I am certainly NOT organized like some, who have seeds in binders and craft carts.

I'll have to take a shot of my Longaberger basket ... it's organized chaos .... i know where everything is, but no one else could probably find anything.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

LOL I've sneezed before and lost a few seeds know the feeling lol

I'm getting ready to post more seeds :) Oh no and avalanche!!!!

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL .. bug -- i am trying tso hard NOT to read those seed posts... then i saw Thuink[sp?] stuff.... oh heavens.... i closed that page lickity split.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I know I'm trying not to look anymore either soo many seeds and so little time to plant them all! lol

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

LeBug, The seed situation is awful here, too!!! I use the conefilters and have them standing up in a shoebox. I write the name on the filter (on the inside is better than the outside) and the seed is inside. For the most part, they are seeds I want to keep and resow, so I don't really clean them. Then I have every dish in the house, plus every plastic container from every Lean Cuisine or frozen muffins I ever bought on every flat surface, because so many of these seeds still have to dry!!!! Or I need to add to them daily as I pick seeds. NIGHTMARE! Often times I line the plastic containers with tissue or newspaper, and that is soooo attractive, but I think it works better drying them out. In other words, I have no solution.

TCS! Don't ever feel bad about the seeds you're sending in. I am using those for 5 people. One gal is maybe recouperating (I didn't ask) and needed things that she could throw out onto bare ground. "Anything" was her word. Then I have the butterfly people, and most of them are "anything", too.

Your seeds will be used, I just didnt want you to tag them in case certain people don't come through, and in case some late joiners started looking through the posted lists, thinking, "hmmm, I always wanted that." We don't want to make it look like we are sold out of everything! LOL!

I saw that list of Tuinkabouters and had to laugh -- I need to go to Plant Files BIG TIME! She said she had 25 dmails.

LeBug, the idea of using the zip code in 'Find a DG Member near you' that Terese had is a good one.

here is my "seed" mess.

I've started buying lunchmeat that comes in "Gladware" containers so that i have "throw away" containers for stuff, in case they get lost or cracked, etc... so i found these BIG ones at Sams... and they work out very well.

Suzy -- it is possible I heard about the cone filter from you... i think... but i do know it was in the WS forum late summer-ish.

but,,,, here is my basket, actually pretty cleaned up.
The bigger ziploc is of smaller ziploc baggies of seeds I've received in trade... everything in the filters are my "harvested" seeds.

I couldn't help smiling - I cleaned out some seed this morning. Had them all over the kitchen in containers - anything hollow and dry is used when my hand are full of seeds. Luckily harvesting is only beginning....

tcs,
your setup looks so nice and tidy. I will have to invest in "something" that looks neat at all times - I have an open plan kitchen, and anybody that comes into the living area can actually see my "seed mess".

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

well, the basket normally sits up on the Frig in front of a cabinet i can not reach, and has bake ware that really doesnt get used... plus a few bottles of booze that does not get used either. so the basket itself is out of the way.

and yes, it's nice and pretty tidy currently -- since most of my stuff was just mailed out.
once i start winter sowing... which i should get on pretty soon... i'll be a mess again.... then moreso next season when i'm harvesting again.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi Elsa! Did you get an answer on your cranberries? I didn't see one come through, but I did ask on your behalf.

I can't wait for LeBug to see your cute picture Terese/TCS.

Suzy

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

tcs, that is so neat and tidy can you come and do my seeds like that lol I like your basket too, If I had my seeds in coffee filters like that I would have them spilled everywhere or my dog wood anyway he's a courous one lol I have mine in velveta cheese boxes and the lids and the boxes are in those cardboard things like you carry home plants in at the nursery and I have about six plus of those! lol

I'll go try the zip code thing.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Nope didn't work must not be a member probably a newbe, oh well I'll keep some seeds in there and maybe I'll see that address posting somewhere lol

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I love the basket too... got it at a great price off eBay. it's the hostess basket, that you can't buy from them... so for me, it was a steal.... it's big, like a serving tray.

>>No name just an address on the return label...

if the sase has an address on it, she may be easy to track down using other methods... I love a challenge!!
you can use zabasearch [which is actually scary how much info you can find in there]

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I'm not willing to work that hard on it but thanks tcs :)

I wish I could take a picture of my seeds you would flip lol

I like baskets too I have a few odd ones, one looks like a birds nest.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Lea -- you wanted caster beans?? I actually have some, that I dont plan on using. someone sent them to me last summer.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I'll take some castor beans, I plan on planting them everywhere this year because of the moles I hear they keep them away, Thanks!

I'm going to go thru my seeds that I got in trade from this year today :)

See this swap is so big we are talking about it on four threads now Suzy! lol I love it! lol

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I'll go thru my stuff again and see what else i may have -- other wise i can just send them to you.

>>talking about it on four threads now Suzy!

LOL... i know. hard to keep up??
