CLOSED: Peppermint or Spearmint seeds

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

Hi! I am looking for seeds for a Peppermint or Spearmint plant. Does anyone have any for postage?

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

I have plain old spearmint. Never collected seeds, but do have plants. Want some?

Hello! Being still in "newbie" status, I do realize everyone is busy right now organizing their seeds, etc. But, I am asking that while you do that...if you come across seeds for Peppermint or Spearmint, I would appreciate some for postage. Thank you.

Hi...I have peppermint. Drop me a line.

Heya, Tiger! If you're set on starting from seed, that's fine. But anybody who came to the spring or fall plant swap can tell you... I can set you up with mint! LOL I've got big patches of both 'Chocolate Peppermint' and 'Kentucky Colonel' Spearmint, my two favorite varieties. If you can make to to our gathering at the end of February, we can probably dig some dormant mint for you then... otherwise, we can get some to you one way or another in the spring.

(Folks, this isn't a general offer at this point, because I have no way of knowing how limited my time & energy will be this spring, and I'll lose track of too many requests... Thanks.)

jxt...Mailed you a small bit of spearmint yesterday. It won't take much to get you started, lol!

Bev, you're not kidding! My 'Chocolate Mint' has taken over the little strip by the side of the driveway... I love it there, but I'm glad it's pretty well contained. Mint does make a good ground cover for places where you can just let it go. It smells wonderful when you mow it! But if you need it to stay within a small space, a pot might be the way to go.

Why, thank you. You are so sweet. Bless you.

Hey critter! Know what you mean about the chocolate mint. Mine escaped from the pot it was in. I got some delicious orange and some apple mint this summer from a trade. Two words half barrel, lol! Planted some zinnias in there with it, and voila. Instant happiness for me and lots of goldfinches!

I don't know what kind of spearmint you have, but 'Kentucky Colonel' seems to "play well with others." It still spreads, but it doesn't try quite so hard to choke out all possible competition. I've got it growing as a "shoes & socks" plant in my deck bed, and that's been working out pretty well. As a bonus, it seems to confuse bunny noses and keeps them out of that bed. :-)

Laughing! I don't know what kind of spearmint I have, either...It came from a friend back when my son was in kindergarten...He's 22 now. I can always tell when my DH mows that part of the yard in the summer and I will say I'm never out when that iced tea needs a bit more flavor. BTW, KC seems to be making me think of juleps, lol!
