Planyladylin, would it be too much trouble to ask you for a synopsis of that thread? Is it a party, or a convention? Is it in Texas, or Florida? It sounds like a great idea. Thanks for your time.

A group of DG'ers thought it would be a wonderful idea to try for a get together with as many DG'ers as possible from all over the country, to meet and possibly visit botanical gardens, maybe have some experts give gardening tutorials, have vendors there for us to meet and be able to see their wares etc. It will be very casual ... no one required to attend tutorials, visit gardens - but just mainly a get together for everyone to meet and greet other DG'ers and share our love of gardening and friendship! Since our head honcho Dave lives in Texas and is such a busy man, he would only be able to attend if it is within a 500 mile radius of his home ... no location has been set yet - it could end up being anywhere but we are hoping it will be somewhere in the location of mid/south Texas or that area so that Dave can be there!

It is just in the beginning planning stages now and they are hoping for a date sometime next year, hopefully spring. I think it will be just a weekend thing but some may make a vacation out of the trip and stay longer. Right now they are just trying to get a general idea of how many people will attend so that the planning and organizing can get going. They kinda need to know about how many to expect to work on getting good hotel rates etc.

So, in a nutshell: Hopefully a 2009 DG Garden Party where as many of us subscribers as possible can meet each other and put faces to the names ... enjoy a couple of days of friendship, fellowship and fun, visit local gardens, talk to vendors who we possibly deal with on line, dine together, share stories, shop and just have a nice time.

You are very welcome! I think it would be so much fun to have hundreds of DG'ers together in one location to meet each other face to face!
