Millions and millions of poppy-seeds are looking for a new home! I have 13 species/varieties to offer.
If you're interested, you can send me a d-mail......
Poppy-lovers, you're desperately needed!
I am in love with your website, I'm in awe. I've not been able to get one up and running, I'm a little computer challenged in that area. You're is great! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks, I'm flattered. It's not difficult, just a lot of work......
Yeah, looks very professional.......good job!
Do you have any other way to see your seed list.? I can download it, but can't open the file on my computer.
Deb
Oh, momcat, that's shame it's beautiful, just bbeautiful. It's as nice as a catalog from Burpee or Parks., and must have taken weeks to prepare!
Do you have MS Word? See if Tuinkabouter has any ideas, but if that doesn't work, I could email the file(s) to you if each one is not too big. (Annuals, perennails, etc. each have a separate file.
(I haven't checked on the size, but I am on AOL and they have file size restrictions)
Suzy
Hi Deb and Suzy,
Indeed the file may be too big, it's 6.5 MB. However, if you don't mind, you could visit the lists in Dutch, those are on-line, no downloads.
If you still don't manage to see the file on your computer, I could make a print of it and send it by post. That always works!
Suzy, thanks for the compliment! It did indeed take much more time than I expected but then, that website of mine always does..... And also thanks for the help offered!
Momcat,
The Dutch version with the Latin names would be okay for you...you know what most the stuff is, I bet, and what you don't know would be easy to look up in Plant Files.
The thing must be 6 dozen pages long and would be very expensive to mail from The Netherlands.
I could send you the text files, for sure with the one line descriptions in English and the photos are on the Dutch side.

Suzy
Suzy,
You're a gem!!
Tuinkabouter, is this a new site...I remember you having a different one-but my memory is so bad-who knows-LOL
I LOVE the GNOME!! I am a gnome nut!
Will have a look at your site in more detail when I get a sec.
Bye for now, Robbi :o)
Just a new lay-out. I happened to have chosen the most oldfashioned template they had, and they withdrew it. So I had to say goodbye to my beautiful lilac butterflies.....
Nothing wrong with being a gnome-nut! So good not to be the only one!
Thanks, I will check that out when I get a chance. I didn't think about looking at the Dutch site.
Deb
Great!
xx
Hi Tuinkabouter - I was reading your website and the section about your yard and gardens and I felt like I was reading about myself. Your gardening style, love and interest in ALL plants, and the fact that you live near the ocean all sounds very familar to me. I also live near the ocean and have soil that I have to amend with compost because it is fast draining (sandy) and very dry and warm in the summers. And I also rarely get a freeze here because of the ocean winds. You have a much bigger garden and more of a selection than I do of plants and seeds.
I have tried growing poppies. I have sowed a LOT of seeds, but have not had much luck getting them to grow. (Though they do germinate.) Perhaps it is too hot here in my climate for them. Or perhaps YOU know the secret to growing them. If so, please share! :-)
Your website is awesome! And your seed list is amazing! Very, very impressive! Love the way you did your seed list with photos!

Thanks for the compliment. Poppies become rather big plants. They do need space to get to their fullest. So sowing wide and thinning out isn't a bad idea. They can handle some drought but not overly much. But they don't like a salty soil. That may be your problem. Maybe you try again in a sheltered spot, in dapled shade and in soil that doesn't contain too much compost. They like sand!
If there's any seeds on my list that you're interested in, just let me know!
You do have several things I am interested in, but the last time I tried trading with someone from the Netherlands, the seeds were confiscated at customs and destroyed. I am just afraid to try again.
Deb
Thanks for the info, Tuinkabouter! I don't believe my soil is too salty because everything else grows here just fine. I just sowed a bunch of Poppy seeds again and will be interested to see if they germinate and grow. Are poppies annuals or perennials? And do they bloom the first year from seeds?
That depends. Some species are perennial (f.i. Oriental poppies), but they tend to be sterile. Others are annual but selfseed happily so you'll never be without! Poppies of the Paeoniflorum and Somniferum species are annuals. However, both annual and perennial poppies have taproots and hate to be transplanted!
I appreciate the added info, Tuinkabouter. You do have a wonderful selection of seeds. Right now I have all the seeds I can sow for one year, but will certainly keep you in mind when I need some more or for specifically something that I don't have. Very generous offer from you! Thank you! :-)
You're welcome!
ill take some poppies
Great!!
Tuinkabouter,
May I have some poppy seed. I promise to give them a good home and add to my collection. I was even given a wild native SA poppy last year and am hoping it gives me seed this year!!!
Lauri
BTW I signed your guest book and am heading back for more looking. It is great!!!

Thanks!
You have d-mail....
Oh, I love it too. I forgot to sign your book but I will on my next visit. You've done much better at clearing your 3 garden plots than I have at around my pond. I'm reading your site and taking notes.
If you've got poppies on your bf & hummer swap list, I'll ask for some on that thread. My wildflower meadow could use more color.
Thanks
Deborah
Deborah, consider it done!
Tuinkabouter,
I would love to try some of your poppy seeds. Have you had luck trading with the US? If you think you can package the seeds so they will get through customs, I would love to have some. Let me know.
Deb
There are still some available....
