Houston Co-Ops/Farmers Markets

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Specifically looking for those in the NW side of Houston. We often used the ones in San Antonio and would like to find some here. Especially looking for the co-op, we used to be able to get wonderful veg seeds from ours.

Thank-you for any info, links, etc.

There's one out in Katy and one near the corner of the toll belt and clay. Have forgotten what their names are...google them.

I only think they one near clay and beltway 8 happens in the summer, fall.

You are speaking of farmers markets?

yes

your inquiry got me curious so I googled "coops in houston". This is what I found. Hopefully this will serve as a starter point in your research. If you are looking for someone who has actually participated, I do not or know of anybody who has. http://www.bellebrook.com/purchase_coop.html

re: Farmers markets, I'm delighted about the one in katy as it is relatively close to me, but it is fairly new so selection is rather limited. I love the one in The Heights, huge and fabulous selections. But, not close to NW houston.

I have actually been to both--but not the one near beltway 8 in 3 years.

Unfortunately not on the NW side of town, but there is one on Tuesday afternoon 3-7 on Rice in the stadium parking lot, and the same team at T'Afia Restaurant Saturday morning 8-noon.

Here's a list of Houston-area farmers markets at chron.com/houstongardening:

The Wild Wild West in the Pecan Grove area is very near me but I didn't mention it because it is hardly worth visiting. And certainly not from NW Houston, lol. There are only about 4 booths, one sells soaps, the other sells oils every other week, another sells bakery goods and the 4th sells herbs. It has a long way to go before it is a true FM.

It it set up inside a garden decor store and I'm afraid the owner is asking too much rental for the booths. I'm only speculating here.

The not-worth mentionings still save all from a trip :)
