Yesterday would have been my dear mother's birthday. Since she loved gardening as much as I do and I can no longer give her a present, I will give seeds away to 10 new (not renewals) DG members that have subscribed (paid subscription) from Jan. 1st to Jan 15th. 2008 (first come, first goes). Hurry up! You can still subscribe!

I will give away an assortment of Chilean Native seeds that will thrive from zones 6 to 10 (please indicate your zone if it is not listed on your personal data). The seeds will be my choice, but you can indicate the ones you like most and I will include them according to availability. You can check my seeds at the following link:

Hello Ursula,

My own moms birthday is tomorrow and having lost my daughter (she was 17)in an accident two years ago I know firsthand how very hard it is when those we love with all our heart are no longer here physically..my heart and prayers go out to you as your moms special day comes and goes.

I was glad to have found DG this past week as after Jennas death I spent a lot of time in the yard bringing new life to the 2 acres that stood empty for many years prior to our moving in... and you know my flowers never seemed to care if I yelled or mumbled and they always seemed grateful for my tears...although I am so very new to 'true' gardening I have learned alot reading thru DG's many forums.

Everyone here is so nice! I can't imagine how I never found this place before and know I won't be without it in the future!

You joined DG on my Mom's birthday. On Feb 9th it will be 40 years ago I lost her to leukemia (I was just 17 - your dear daughter's age), but have missed her all my life. I can only imagine how hard it has been for you to loose Jenna.

Please let me know if you want to give my seeds a try and what zone you are.

I would love to take you up on your offer of seeds...any are fine...I love everything...I am a 'hog' gardener...there is nothing I have not found yet I love.. :)~ I am a zone 7 but lately I think the weather thinks we are a 9 LOL

And if all things considered that was not strange enough, my son who is 21 will be studying in Quito hopefully this fall. He would like to take a few trips south into Chile so I will have to send him your way! He goes to College here in SC and they have a sister school in Quito so I have encouraged him to go for it....

My son is an Art major with a minor in Business Economics and Spanish. Coastal Carolina Univerisity gives their students an opportunity to go to any of their sister schools in the US and abroad for the same tuition cost as going to Coastal...I am hoping next year he goes to Paris so I can have a reason to get to see Paris :)

Just joined, thanks to a wonderful friend (dryad57), and was informed of your offer of seeds! Would love to try any you have - I live in zone 7 - NC where we have been experiencing drought conditions for the last 5 years. My yard is mostly shady due to several mature oaks, so anything you have that might work would be great!

Toni, I'm sorry but this is an offer for people that joined DG during 2008. If I do not get all 10 takers by Jan 20th, I will make it retroactive to members that joined during Dec. 2007. If I still don't get the 10 takers by that date, I will favor Nov. 2007 members, and so on.
