This plant sat for the longest time before showing new growth. Then it put up two shoots and a leaf formed on one. I noticed aphids on the new leaf when it was still less than 1/4 inch long and treated it, but I can't remember if it was with a blast of water or Safer soap stuff (hate getting old!!). At any rate, the leaf continued to grow nicely, but had this discoloration on it from the beginning.
Can anyone tell me if it is a problem I need to deal with? I will post pics of the front and back of the leaf. Thanks.
Barb
H. vitellinoides.... Problem?
personally i would wait and see if it fixes itself up and what the next new growth looks like. If the other leaves start going south I would check roots.... HTH...
Thanks, Carol. Do you think brighter light would have anything to do with it? The new growth had already begun when I brought it inside and put it under the lights. (It was previously in the carport in what I would consider moderate shade.)

Hmmmm, could be. I have seen some leaves like that and I wonder what's going on...but they seem to grow out of it.

Okay, I'll do a "wait and see" thing with it in hopes that it will fix itself. When I get new growth I will (try to remember to) post pics for comparison. In the mean time, I won't change anything in its care.
Thanks again!

P.S.
Doug, did you see anything similar to this when you put your plants under the high-intensity light system?
Barb,
I've got a fair amount of red spots and red leaves under the lights, but I don't have that particular Hoya so I can't really say what it would look like from really bright light. It is possible however. I think Carol's advice of wait and see is a good one.
Doug
Thanks, Doug.
Barb....I am in the midst of repotting everything...and I found a similar kind of discoloration on a similar kind of hoyas....also found root mealies so you might want to check the condition of your plants' roots....

Carol, I saw your note last night and went right in and pulled it. The tips of both the new growth segments have dried up. MY Bad... They grew up into the lights and got fried, I think. :`( I took it out of its pot and washed as much of the old soil off as I could in tepid water and repotted it in a rapid-draining mixture of 3 parts orchid mix and 1 part MG potting mix. Thanks for the heads-up on the root mealies. I didn't see any that I could positively identify, but this plant was outside, so it is possible they could have been there. The root system looks healthy and substantial. Hopefully it will continue to produce leaves. Will it branch now that the growth tips have dried up? I sure hope so.
B
It will find a way to branch out... Another stop gap is to spray it with Tenactin just in case it is some kind of common fungus....can't hurt... :>)
I'll do that when I get home tonight. Thanks!
