Made My First Soap

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

OK

So I took the plunge over the holiday and made my first batch of soap. It was a melt and pour and I used a couple of recipes I found on the net. I figure I'll work through this process first and get acclimated before I try CP.

Anyway, I have some questions:

The molds I used produced a bar that is a little too thin for my liking. About a 1/2 inch or so. What is the average thickness of the bars that you make? Is there a melt and pour mold that will let me make one large bar that I can cut to the thickness I desire?

Several of the recipes called for the addition of some dried materials. (Oatmeal, etc) Although I thought I mixed well, the material still floated to the top part of the bar. How can I ensure even distribution of the solid materials in the base?

2 of the recipes called for the addition of a small amount of oil (tea tree and peppermint). I followed the recipe to the letter and the finished bars had a slightly wet feeling to them. I call them weepy. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? The bars are usable.

Thanks
BB
