Well, in the absence of Dusty (anyone heard from her?) I have a calendar that has a lot of moon info, so here it is for January. I'll try to get February's info in later in the week if y'all like this and want me to. I'd much rather someone who has experience would do this, but here is what I have:
NOTE: when the moon is VOC (void of course) it means it's between signs. It can last from seconds to hours and you shouldn't start anything during this period, gardening or otherwise. It's good for finishing up things you've meant to finish (hem that dress, put away the tools from the last project, etc.) Same advice when Mercury is in retrograde.
At the bottom of this there are notes on what you should do during each sign, but factor in whether the moon is waxing or waning! As in, Libra is good for planting, but not when the moon is waning. Waxing: build (plant, etc.). Waning: destroy (cultivate, weed). I just went back through and put "xxx" when the moon is waxing.
Times are CST for my convenience.
The moon is currently waning.
1/3 -- moon goes void of course from 6:32 p.m. until...
1/4 -- ...8:14am, moon enters Sagittarius.
1/6 -- VOC 6:28pm - 7:44pm, then enters Capricorn.
xxx1/8 -- NEW MOON 5:38 am, but VOC from that time until 5:14 am on Wednesday, so just enjoy instead of doing.
xxx1/9 -- moon enters Aquarius 5:14 am.
xxx1/11 -- VOC11:53am - 12:45 pm, then enters Pisces.
xxx1/13 -- VOC 5:42pm - 6:24pm; then enters Aries.
xxx1/15 -- VOC 9:40pm - 10:14pm; into Taurus.
xxx1/17 -- VOC 8:06pm - 12:31am, into Gemini.
xxx1/20 -- VOC 1:47am - 2:46am, into Cancer.
xxx1/21 -- VOC 4:47am until...
1/22 -- ...4:21 am, into Leo. Moon goes full at 7:38am. Putter with other things.
1/24 -- VOC 8:44am - 8:49am (just have your coffee during this period...), into Virgo.
1/26 -- VOC 5:33am - 4:36pm (losing most of your Saturday), into Libra.
1/27 -- Mercury is in retrograde until February 18 and you're working "against the tide" as it were, so maintenance is preferable to actually starting any projects during this period.
1/28 -- VOC 3:49pm until...
1/29 -- ... 3:36am, then into Scorpio.
1/31 -- VOC 2:36 am - 4:09 pm, into Sagittarius.
GARDENING STUFF:
Aries: harvest roots, fruit. Cultivate, destroy.
Taurus: plant, transplant.
Gemini: as Aries. Plant melon seeds.
Cancer: BEST for planting and transplanting. Graft, irrigate.
Leo: as Aries.
Virgo: Cultivate, destroy weeds and pests.
Libra: Plant flowers, vines, herbs. Cuttings.
Scorpio: Transplant sturdy plants and vines.
Sagittarius: harvest roots. Plant onions and fruit trees. Cultivate.
Capricorn: plant potatoes, roots. Prune to grow. Graft. Fertilize.
Aquarius: as Aries, but good for onions.
Pisces: plant, transplant. Good for root growth and irrigation.
January moon stuff
I've got a jillion seeds to start cold stratifying during the next waxing moon. Looking forward to getting them going.
What Time Zone are you using for that information?
paracelsus, if it were me and I wanted to do it in January, I'd go for the 12th.
darius, that's central standard time.
Thanks.
Came here to ask when is a good time to start wintersowing this month. Its already done!!! Thanks Brigidlily! I'll be very busy on the 12th :-)

I might not be able to wait that long--I am so eager to start my seeds.
Me too! This is my first time and I started a few in Dec. The shrubs and some trees and other perennial stuff. Two have come up aleady and I'm hoping they survivie till spring. Its been uncharacteristically arctic here.

If anyone is checking this daily, today (Monday Jan. 7) is a good day to prune to promote growth.
As I come across these tidbits I'll try and get the word out.
Today (Jan. 7) and tomorrow morning would be a good time to get teeth pulled while the moon is in Capricorn. Unfortunately my appt. to get the first half my uppers pulled isn't until Thursday when the moon is in Aquarius, which is okay just not optimal.
I suspect if you pleaded with your dentist on the basis of the moon's position, you'd lose your appointment entirely...
LOL, I actually discussed moon signs with him even though he sniggered. But since it is a university dental clinic, I had to take what appointment time I could get.
Happy New Moon, everyone! The moon is void of course until the wee hours tomorrow, so it's not a good day to START anything. Work on stuff you've already started, but put off beginning things until tomorrow.
Wednesday the 9th is a good day to plant ONIONS.
edited to say Friday the 11th is a great day to plant and transplant, but wait until the afternoon (moon is VOC in the morning).

Could we have a little vote until Dusty or someone else more savvy on this than I am can take over? Do y'all want the details as I did them above, or would you rather have a little list of things like "Friday afternoon is good for planting onions"? I can do it either way, just let me know before I do February's.
Leaving for the weekend in a little bit, so I'll find out what you want on Monday. Thanks!
Ann
I found this site to be useful in providing information on moon phases and what days of the month to plant, prune, etc.

Ann, I would welcome your details until Dusty can join us (I think she's battling a wicked cold bug).
Thanks!!

Well, the teeth extractions went okay (only they did ALL the top ones), better than most. Even with 15 extractions, I had minimal bleeding, and very little pain afterwards. I'm still 'seeping' a little blood when I try to eat but that will be gone soon.
Glad you withstood it, darius! I've been wearing a mouthpiece for TMJ for a year, and extraction can begin to look tempting... but I'll hang on a while.
For this week, Wednesday and most of Thursday (until 8 p.m.) are good for planting and transplanting.
Friday and Saturday are "moon good" for planting melons, but those of us in the northern hemisphere possibly should wait on that one.
