The USDA governs transportation of butterflies across state lines.
Below is a list of species which are allowed to be shipped into your state.
AL = American Lady
BS = Black Swallowtail
GF = Gulf Fritillary
GS = Giant Swallowtail
M = Monarch
PL = Painted Lady
RA = Red Admiral

** States west of the Continental Divide will receive Monarch larvae drop shipped from a butterfly farm on the western side of the Continental Divide. The USDA does not allow shipment of Monarchs across the divide.

Interesting list to read through and especially to read your note about not allowing monarch shipping across the continental divide...I suppose they are a slightly different species on either side?
They all look the same to me :o)
Am just glad my compatriots aren't staked along the southern border - we get lots of lovely stray butterflies that wander over from Mexico and Central America.
