Maybe someone here can give me a good idea - hopefully.
My rescued Shih Tzu mix, Willie, has chronic dry eye, with one of his eyes usually quite reddish and sometimes oozy. The vet's given me eye drops to put in his eyes "2 or 3" times a day. Now, I have no idea why this vet thinks I can do this when even they can't do it without sedating him. Willie has fear aggression, compounded by a god-awful stubborn streak and a rage issue. LOL He's a challenge to all who deal with him!! He's my little "puppyguy", tho. :))
I've tried sitting with him, with treats in my hand, working with him to hold his head up for me - 'cus he'll never let me "hold" his head. That took an hour to get one drop - maybe - in his eye. The 2nd time was a little better, the 3rd time worse when his stubborn streak kicked in, and I gave up again.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? There's no muzzling him or holding him in any way. Would oral antibiotics work just as well? I know I need to do something about this before he eventually loses his eye/s. Help!!
Suggestions for eye-dropping?
