Tiara blooming smaller than normal, with a few frost bit leaves.
Brugs in the cold
My MEM is blooming inside in dining room, very large blooms/long tendrils.
How cold do they get outside Mary? Are they all in the ground?
Gloria
WOW! But you ARE getting flowers! Very nice!
We've had some light frosts. These have a little protection on 2 sides with the shade cover. We have some nights in the 30's but more often 40's and low 50's. We're expecting some warmer weather which will be heavenly. Then you can all come out and thaw out from the winter woes. LOL What we consider cold out here would probably have most people unpacking their shorts and swim suits.
Wow, get ready for company. You make it sound sooo good!
At least you have some blooms, Mary. Around here there are just bare plants and some cuttings with leaves. Four more months before mine can go outside. Maybe just a bit longer if Mother Nature doesn't want to cooperate.
Any bloom is a good bloom :) I had Jamies Monkey Business in the house on xmas morning because it had its first big bud on it and it was so windy I didnt want it to get blown off, and it opened inside. Really smelly at night lol, stronger than the xmas tree pine smell.
Ouch, Joyce! Hard to believe in just a couple months those will be full of leaves and buds.
I just lost 85 percent of my Brugs to the Freeze Paul
Don't give up on them completely. I thought many of mine were dead when we had our freak freeze last year. I put the pots aside, planning on emptying them later when I needed more pots. Didn't water them, one was even lying on it's side ... and to my surprise growth shot up from the roots in late spring on several of them. I'd given up on them for sure. They were in full sun, and the tags faded out on some of them so it was a cool surprise to see what I'd get. One seedling I'm still not sure which seed it was from.

I checked the greenhouses today when I got home-BIG MISTAKE! Just when I thought things could not get worse, I found most of my plants in both greenhouses did not fare any better than the plants in the ground and then...!
I found a limb in one of the greenhoused about 7" across by 4' long in there on top of my brugs ...which I certainly had not put there--looked up and discovered a huge hole in the roof of the greenhouse which had come from a tree in neighbors yard which has been about dead and I had spoke to them in the past with no cooperation--they only rent and the landlords -or slumlords in this case live in a ritzy part of North Carolina and won't do a thing! except collect rent!!---Apt dwelling--here I come!
Aggravated in Florida and crying in my beer!!
Linda
I don't blame you for being aggravated. Cooperation is so important with neighbors. We took down a Palm Tree that was dropping seed on our neighbors beautiful lawn, even though we liked the tree. Didn't want to annoy them, and it seemed like the neighborly thing to do. I guess it's hard to get cooperation from a non resident owner. If they had to look at the dead tree every day they might have done the right thing.
What a drag Linda! I'm sorry that happened to you.
Paul & Linda,
My brugs seem to have come thru with no damage except one in the front yard which was not as wind protected as the others. Check with me in the spring for cuttings. Most have lost their labels but I have a few named ones out there.
Jan...
I'm so sorry to hear of everyones loss due to the cold.
