Anyone have a LARGE, private GH in SE USA???

(Zone 9a)

Hello all,

I'm just trying this out.

I'm looking to have someone adopt a cashew tree from me.

Don't believe what it says in plantfiles (not last time I checked anyway).
A cashew tree in NOT hardy in USDA zone 9. Not even close.

I'll be starting seeds in early spring if I can get some viable ones.
All the trees I had died last year well BEFORE it got cold.
These would have to stay either in a LARGE, heated greenhouse or
outside somewhere in the warmer parts of USDA zone 10.

I would like to trade a tree for the first fruit that it may produce.
I'm not sure about the pollination needs (male-female, etc.) for cashew trees, but I had one flower at about two and a half feet tall in a seven gallon pot.
I think it would be worth a shot in a large nursery container (twenty-five gallons or larger).
Very inexpensive and easily hidden behind bamboo/lattice work/reeds/use your imagination or buy a very expensive pot to fit your taste :).

I'm NOT looking to give a high dollar tree to just anyone off the street.

If you think you may have a suitable place to try this let me know and we will see if we can work out the details.

Thanks

I have a friend with a beautiful beachfront property in the Florida Keys (zone 11). I am sure she would be interested.

That sounds pretty interesting to me.

Lets "talk" about it tomorrow.

You should be in bed. Didn't realize who started this thread? :)))

I know that this is from a year ago, but if you need to overwinter a tree, I have a GH
