Hi everyone,Had to show you something strange.

This is a cutting of gloxinia maculata that I took months ago when one side of the mom plant went dormant.

It started looking funny a couple of weeks ago and I thought it might be going dormant too.I took a tip cutting off before it all died back. This is it today.Look at the scaly rhrizones?? Yikes they look like green worms.LOL.

This is the cutting i took off.I thought it had some flower buds on it but I do think they are scaly rhrizones growing out of the top.How strange is that?

Do you really think those are rhizomes and not leaves, jannich?

yeppers, rhizos :)

I think a while back I sent you some above-ground rhizomes off a Smithiantha? (It could have been someone else - memory has never been my strong point.) Same kind of thing. In the right climate, I can't imagine gessies ever going extinct. (But they do....)

Hi there ladies,

How very strange! That really amazes me that the rhizomes would grow out of the top of the plant like that.I wonder if they fall off into the soil and grow??
