Jo, I ordered Mona Lisa this fall and have yet to see its blooms in person, but all the descriptions I've read and pics I've seen show it with redish flames and striping. The pics looks like Blushing Lady to me, which is another I planted this fall, but haven't seen in person yet. It is absolutely gorgeous! I hope blushing lady looks like that for me!

Thanks Neal. It certainly looks like one of the "blushing" ones. Apparently there are three: Lady, Bride, and Beauty. How about that? I think this one is a "Beauty" - fits the description a bit better, but they're all just beautiful. And this one was just in one of those bags of mixed tulips, so I had no idea I'd get anything so special.

It was in a large planter with some other bulbs and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it returns. But tulips aren't reliable here so won't get my hopes up. If not - well, I can always buy some next year! Is it tulip co-op time yet? :-)

P.S. And have my pots and soil ready for lilies! Am drooling already

I love all of those! As I understand it, several of those are sports of Temple of Beauty I think, or sports of each other. I picked up 50 of each of Blushing Lady and Perestroyka (another sport of it) from Brent&Beckys 50% off sale and blended them together; I can't wait!

Oh my. It sounds just incredibly beautiful. I'm breathless just thinking about it.

Please take a picture of them all together and post it. Pretty pretty please! Don't forget, now.. When would that be (so I can bug you if needed) - May? June? Just before the lilies start?

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh yes, I'm expecting some good pics! I plan to be totally bothersome with them, lol. Have no idea if it will work out the way I've envisioned, but they are located against evergreens where the setting sun will be the background. Hoping for some lovely color echoes. They bloom in May just a few weeks before the Asiatic lilies start. I've never had space to plant a mass of anything till moving here this spring, so I'm excited! And thank goodness for sales, because otherwise I'd have been too cheap, lol.

I'd love to do a mass planting of one variety of lily, but there are just too many gorgeous ones to pic. I may break down and do it, but I'll wait till the co op is about to close and grab up whats left of something.

HA The way that co-op is going, I doubt there'll be much left to "grab up"!

gemini_sage, which Lily would you do if you did a mass planting and how many? I just want to enjoy the image in my mind. I followed your advice about the tulip 'blushing lady', but only bought 20. I decided the year before anything less than 20 was not enough when planting tulips. But I think that I will be wanting to up that number again when I see your pictures of 50. Jealous already. Patti

Oh good,...we can mutually be jealous of each other, LOL! Isn't that what we strive for? Hehehehe

If I end up massing some lilies, they will go in the same area as the tulips. There I'm using coral/salmon/peachy shades, and I keep thinking Royal Sunset would be perfect, but we'll see.
