WOW! My Golden Comets lay some pretty big double yolkers but I've never measured them. I always feel sorry for them when I find someone has laid a whopper.

Merry Christmas!!

congrats! is she a pullet? i had a triple yolker from a Buckeye pullet last fall, & she was laying a lot of doubles too! throw her some fresh clover & see what happens!

I was hand feeding them muscadines, when she was laying these massive orbs.
Really funny, had them jumping up like 3 feet to pluck the grape from my fingers.
I don't rattle a paper bag around them!! They will run me over. Grapes are gone now,,,and so are the big eggs. I will try some clover! I have been breaking up some pecans lately,,plenty of those around, They love them too! Too much work , though.

I have a Sexlink that lays double and triple yolkers and she isn't very big. I've even heard the poor thing straining to lay those massive eggs! I'm surprised she survives it!
Badseed, I have to agree it does make your buns hurt! LOL!

I've got a Brahma cross bantam (yes, BANTAM) that just started laying on Christmas Eve for the first time. Not only does she seem hormonally confused.....(winter layer???!!!)...but her eggs, too, are huge. Just as big as a medium-sized egg from a full-size, mature hen. And, boy, is she chatty when she lays---you can hear her a block away, poor girl! Ouch! That's gotta smart! Guess its all in the genetics.....!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

oh, yes, they do love those pecans. my kids love mashing them up for the chickens. we just lay a piece of ply on the ground and the kids smash them, the birds eat em up!
