Pixie:
You have a BEAUTIFUL new ornament.
Everyone else ... top that!!
LOL!
Happy and Blessed Holidays to everyone
Holiday Decor III
I like your card Candyce.
Al, last year I bought 9 of those disco balls and strung then in varying lengths in my kitchen window thinking how much light they would shine all over the kitchen. The Winter sun was too low in the sky to even hit the balls.
Al, you remind me of Charlie Brown in the Halloween show - "all I got was a rock"!
I like the disco ball, Al!
I have some prisms hanging in my east and in my south facing windows. Yes, they are rather low in the windows, but very secure, as the cats love to bat them back and forth. I find that the prisms have to be placed a lot lower in the window during the winter so that they catch the sun.
also a new tree this year, it has my new 12 Days of Christmas and some colored glass that I have collected over the years (yep, it's leaning, and I'm afraid if we try too hard to straighten it we'll break the welds. it's driving DH crazy. the bird on the top is solid wrought iron and it's top heavy)
and the stocking were hung by the chimney with care. except that there's no room by the chimney because the the village took up all the real estate. so they are on the the video cabinet. mine was knitted by my grandmother when I was born (it's wool), so now it's just for showin', not for stuffin'. she made one for DH when we got married. the one for older DGD was made on my knitting machine. the one for younger DGD I knitted using my grandmother's pattern.
now for the tacky...the moose is motion activated like the singing bass. it goes 'Ho, ho, ho, merry Christmas' in a very deep moose-like voice and then plays Jingle Bells. I love this thing. the year I got it I put it in the bathroom. there were only a few minor heart attacks. now I keep it in the front hall and only turn it on Christmas day.
last tree...you know how there is a groom's cake at some weddings. smaller than the bride's big fancy one? well this is the groom's tree. every Star Wars and Star Trek ship ever made (DH doesn't care much for the figures, except for Darth Vader, who talks when the tree goes on, and C3PO and R2D2). then there's a mix of Santa doing manly things (playing pool, lounging on the beach, drinking a beer in his Buffalo Bills fan gear), some Air Force things (I even found a reindeer in fatigues that looked just like him when he was in the service), some large beasts (lions and tigers and bears, oh my) and some favorite cartoon characters. you get the idea.
LOL - I love the Groom's Tree.
wrightie, I love it!!! I think the coolest kids have a horse ;-)
Nah, the SuperGroovy ones have Breasticles dangling from their Trekkie Tree. Would it be okay if I sent your DH a small pair, too?
wrightie, Can I come ride? I want a horse for Christmas!! Think Santa can fit one on his sleigh??
wrightie, I think if he saw them, whatever they are, he would have to have them LOL
Pixie, Come Hither! Btw, it's common knowledge in the horse world that if you plant an apple tree, horses will grow beneath it.
In that case, Grampapa, I'm going to send him my low hanging fruit ... lol
love the grooms tree & the horsey!
Wrightie, I have a ton of apple tree's, how long does it take em to grow??
Uh-Oh. Did you forget to sow your wild oats beneath your apple trees after you planted them? Sounds like you've had a total crop failure. I'm wicked sorry.
aw, pixie, that's too bad. have you tried planting horse chestnuts?
Kass, I love how your mom decorated the tree. and those stockings are beautiful! are they hand-knit? can't believe you got all those ornaments on little bitty Hi.
Kassia, it's beautiful! that'll make you feel good on a winter day.
it's winter now... the days are getting longer... 90 days until Spring!!!
Looks great, Kass & Jan!
