I'm really glad I sent him to the vet this morning!

Perth,, ON(Zone 5a)

big black dog Rocco, neutered male, about 10 years old. 87lbs.

He's been licking/worrying his sheath for a couple of days. This morning there was an area about the size of an egg swollen and angry looking.... he was definately not a happy camper. =(

I called first thing to the vet's office and got him an appointment squeezed in for later this morning. Turns out he has an infection in his sheath. He's had a shot, and will be on meds for two weeks. Got his evening med into him a little while ago, so they should start to work soon. Thank goodness for Cheez Whiz and a spoon!

Still, there's a lot more swelling tonight than there was this morning, so I'm glad I did not wait to get him in. Can't imagine what it would look like in a couple of days with no meds. Yowsers!

pic of him on a nice sunny summer day!

He's resting quietly, and not bothering it tonight.... so must be feeling better. =)
