chrysanthemum bonsai varieties?

Olga, WA(Zone 8b)

I have read that one can use chrysanthemum to create a nice looking bonsai within one season. Wondering if anyone out there could recommend some varieties that have small flowers?

The gnomes are best for bonsai:

Kotoi No Kaori
Short Height

Hatsune
Short Height

Seigi
Short Height

Ugetsu
Short Height

Pumpkin
Short Height

Yukari
Med. Height

There are also cascading varieties that are good for (who would have guessed?) cascade & semi-cascade. They are lots of fun, but you really need to stay on top of your pinching & timing to get good results. They're much more work than most people might think.

If you're serious about trying them, you should start looking for the out of print book "The Art of the Chrysanthemum" by Tameji Nakajima (Harper & Row)

You might also wish to try common plants like snapdragon, Coleus, Impatiens repens, Pilea microphylla, others, for believable 1 year specimens, too. Mums have a tendency for large portions of the plant to die back after the first year. The others, perennials all, offer you several seasons of fun. Though short lived, I've had many of the plants listed grow well for more than 5 years and some are still going.

do you happen to know of any online images of these varieties?
as they say, I've googled 'til I've gaggled!
I will look for the book you mentioned; thank you again
