I don't know what possessed me to look at Petfinders, but I did. I love the arctic breeds, and I have had a Siberian before. DB and me have been talking about getting another dog, but we were thinking about waiting until spring. I have been feeling a bit of guilt over the fact that I bought Mish from a breeder, even though his bloodlines are impeccible, he has been screened for hips and eyes, and has the potential to become a champion himself. I was determined that my next dog would be a rescue, and it looks like it could happen sooner than I expected!
I found a listing for M.U.S.H.R.S., the local Siberian Husky rescue organization on Petfinders and on it I found a Siberian whose eyes seemed to look into my soul. I called. She turned out to not be a good match because of a strong prey drive, but they just had a surrender who was raised with cats. She is pure white with blue eyes, and is about the same size and age as Mishik. I asked DB how he would feel, and he said, "Hell yeah - when can we go see her?"
I called the lady back and told her we were definitely interested. Is is weird that I have already named her? lol. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that she (and we!) turn out to be suitable and she has found her forever home with us soon.
