Stag horn ferns are doing pretty well, but I do not know what to fertilize them with. Probably should leave well enough alone. LOL. In Zone 9

Try banana peels, best fertilizer for Staghorn Ferns. Just tuck pieces under the brown fronds.

They will thrive with fish emulsion fertilizer or just very dilute houseplant fertilizer once in awhile. I wouldn't fertilize a whole lot in winter though.
