We have a 7 month old Bantam rooster that apparantly got too cold one night and is now hoarse. He can't crow worth a flip though he tries. He also breathes through his mouth. What can we do for him?
I posted a picture of him as well. Not that that will help with diagnosis but he is such a pretty fellow I thought I'd share a picture.
What to do for a hoarse rooster??
Try an antibiotic. I keep a packet of terramycin (sp) on hand all the time. Also the vitamins for the water will help. You should do both because it could spread to the others.
Thanks, I'll get some vitamins tomorrow.
smedgekles, What kind of rooster is he? He's a cutie!
He is a non bearded golden laced polish bantam. We also have a female bearded silver laced polish and a white non bearded polish. They are beautiful.
We gave him some cayenne pepper water yesterday and this morning he is crowing like normal so far.
he is a beat, i will have some of those greowing up soon, as will L2G2... cayenne pepper, well, i guess i need to keep some on hand. should have lots of hoarse cockerels soon LOL
