Does anyone know of a Good Samaritan?

Havelock, Canada

Hi all fellow Canucks!

I have rambled around Canadian Gardening here and there and some of you may remember me. I am rather restricted to the amount of time I can spend sitting at the computer because of back problems which I have found out I am going to have surgery for. I am just waiting for an OR date from the surgeon in Toronto.
HERE IS MY DILEMMA - I HAVE BEEN OFFERED A PUP FROM ONE OF OUR FELLOW DGERS. HE LIVES IN EVERSON, WA. WHICH SEEMS TO BE ABOUT 5 MILES FROM THE CANADIAN BORDER AND THE CLOSEST CANADIAN TOWN IS ABBOTSFORD. THE PUP SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRAVEL APPROXIMATELY JANUARY 18, 2008. HE WAS BORN NOVEMBER 22 (THANKSGIVING DAY IN THE STATES). IS ANYONE TRAVELLING FROM VANCOUVER OR AREA AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME AND COMING TO ONTARIO. I LIVE IN HAVELOCK, ONTARIO. I COULD DRIVE TO OTTAWA OR TORONTO TO PICK UP THE LITTLE FELLOW. DOES ANYONE KNOW SOMEONE WHO WILL BE TRAVELLING WHO IS WILLING TO BE A GOOD SAMARITAN? DOES ANYONE KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO WOULD BE MOVING LIVESTOCK THAT MY LITTLE GUY COULD TAG ALONG AND KEEP THEM COMPANY? I NEED TO GET THIS LITTLE BABE FROM HERE TO THERE BUT ALSO HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT HE IS SAFE ALONG THE WAY. SITTING IN A VEHICLE FOR LONG DURATIONS IS QUITE UNBEARABLE FOR ME. DH SAID HE WOULD LOVE TO GO AND PICK UP THE PUP BUT COST IS PROHIBITIVE.
THIS IS MY DREAM DOG. IT SEEMS LIKE WAS MEANT TO BE. I HAVE BEEN FACED WITH THIS CHALLENGE AND I THOUGHT I SHOULD REACH OUT TO MY FELLOW DGERS AND SEE IF THEY CAN HELP? THIS IS NOT A WHIM. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS MY ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A PUP OF SUCH BREEDING. I HAVE WANTED ONE SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL! I JUST HAVE TO FIGURE OUT THE HOW? PERHAPS I CAN'T SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES SO I AM PLEADING WITH FELLOW DGERS TO HELP ME OUT IF IT IS POSSIBLE. I DO NOT HAVE TREASURES TO OFFER THE GOOD SAMARITAN BUT I WILL BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL AND YOU WILL GET YOUR REWARDS IN HEAVEN IF NOT HERE ON EARTH.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW CAN HELP.
YOU CAN SEND ME A D-MAIL IF YOU CAN HELP.
GOD BLESS
ELAINE

I think I know of this puppy. Wouldn't it be fantastic if you could work this out. Wish I could help you, but my trips to BC are going to be way to the north. I think if I brought a puppy with me that far I would have to keep it. I held a baby bully in my arms last week, and DH had a real hard time getting me out of that store. He lives in fear that all the stray cats being sheltered in our shed are going to find their way into the house.

I so wish you luck in finding a solution, Elaine.

Brenda - Thanks for your kind words. It is tough going through life being a bleeding heart isn't it. Can't help it. It is the way God made me and he knows what he is doing. lol
Many thanks and God Bless!

Just to update this request: I do believe I have found a true Angel on Earth. She has offered to ship my wee babe and has given the details over to her breeder as I am not familiar with everything involved. I feel truly blessed. This beautiful person has such an interesting background and feels privileged to be living a happy, healthy life now after many years of poverty, oppression and unspeakable cruelty. She has chosen me to pay it forward. I'm not used to great things happening in my life so I am over-the-moon with joy and gratefulness. Thanks to all who gave my plight consideration, thought or prayed for a good result. Keep prayers going for a final great outcome please!

Elaine - I am glad you found transport for your pup.

But I am curious.

What breed is this pup you have waited so long to get?

fancyvan - It is a golden retriever and I have already named him! Otis Washington. How's that for a handle. He'll be called Otis but if he's into mischieft it probably will be OTIS WASHINGTON! lol. I feel like a little kid. I am so excited I can hardly wait. This babe will be my bff. No doubt about if!

To enter Canada you will need a health certificate and a rabies shot less than 36 months old. There is a duty in the other direction, but it usually isn't collected.
In ancient times one of mine spent six weeks in your country and came back a Canadian Champion & pregnant. She was bred in Stratford ON and had two pups both of which were named Darrell (one silver and one white).

Thanks to all for the interest in my miracle. It really did come true, I am so happy to say. You can check out the new golden pups link in Pets too. I have never mastered the hyperlink thing so this is the best that I can do.

Otis came from those beautiful babes and from Ernie. It is a dream come true and I am now knee deep in going potty outside and puppy toys! We are in love.

Hugs and Thanks to all for Your Interest

I did find your Otis in the thread in the Pets forum last night. He is incredibly beautiful, huggable, kissable, adorable.

So glad Otis has arrived safely by air. What a poppet. I had visions of him being handed off to drivers all across the country. Not the right time of year for this.

Maybe you will start a blog, or keep this thread going, with all your adventures with him.

We used to have rescue daxies before I moved into town. They were adopted all across the prairies with a couple across the border. We often would send them by car, from one person to another. Other rescue societies do this too - in good weather.

Really think the internet and DGers are great.

I think I should start a thread for his adventures! I have to try and get a bit of rest first. Ha ha!

I'm sure glad you got your pup, Elaine! What a cutie. You mean someone on DG paid for his air transportation to you? That's amazing!!

Yes they did! The people here on DG are an amazing bunch and I feel so privileged to be part of this amazing group of people.

There is no place like it in this entire world. You have to understand that great things don't seem to come my way but boy oh boy things sure changed when Ernie offered me one of those beautiful babes. I am the happiest person in the world and I thank God every day for the wonderful friends that I have made here.

Miracles do happen. My Otis curled up at my feet is proof positive!

This has to be the most incredible on line community in the internet universe. If never ceases to amaze me. Enjoy your puppy and blessings on everyone in this community.

It is quite an amazing story and I am planning on posting a thread to keep people updated on Otis' growing and accomplishments. Also how he came to be my BFF is truly a miracle. I am amazed at the fantasitic, caring people in DG. There are no better.

I am not used to wonderful things happening in my life so I am so grateful every day to be blessed by so many caring people. And now we have Otis with us. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. Isn't it wonderful the difference caring people can make in someone else's life. I will forever be grateful. Thanks to all who shared interest in the amazing journey of Otis.

Hugs
God Bless
Elaine and Otis
