Woke up this morning to this beautiful flush......she is a really pretty brug with huge blooms. Anyone who is growing this brug will agree that she is worth having in your collection.
Miss Emily Mackenzie
Would love to wake up to a beautiful sight like that! How fragrant is she?
Emily has a very pleasing baby powder fragrance that can be detected from anywhere on my patio.
I'm glad you posted this picture. The only picture I have of MEM is on the first day and then the rain and wind came in. There are a lot of people who know nothing about this Brug and she is must have.
This is a pretty one. Would you believe........in Lima, Ohio I have 2 buds halfway grown, hope they stay on to bloom again this winter!
Does anyone know the parents? Is it PB x EP?

MaMaMeia those are some killer twangers too. LOL
It is one of my favorites for size/beautyof bloom!
Verry, very beautiful and so big, WOW!
I have a few seeds that are crossed with her... I can only hope.
What a BEAUTY!

What a beauty! I love the vibrant color!
Oh to have long hanging blooms, instead of long haning icicles! It is beautiful.
I can't wait for mine to bloom like that :)
I have some Peanut x MEM seedlings growing, that I bought. Maybe they will come out purty someday.
Good Morning!!
I have fallen for yet another brug. :*) MEM is so lovely.
Angel did you cross Peanut and MEM yourself?
angel, I think that would be a cross that is worth watching. I think both have Germen genes. We have a Pink Smitty X Roseamond by Liz and an Adeline X MEM by Delisa. They are a joint project between Joan and us. Joan started the seeds and we will be growing the off. They are already almost two feet tall and should bloom this next year, if all goes well.

kimarj, Nope not my cross, I bought the seeds from country garden. They are about 10 inches high. My MEM hasn't bloomed yet.
Must be very exciting to grow them from seed. :)
There are good points and bad points with Emily. For starters she has beautifully shaped, large, fragrant blossoms and blooms frequently if not constantly during the flowering season. But if she is not grown in morning sun and moved to afternoon shade, the blossoms will become wet spaghetti when exposed to the hot summer sun. Her blossoms require total protection from the sun. Afternoon sun here in south florida no matter what time of year will destroy the beauty of the blooms. They will recover at night but will never have that totally fresh look again. For that reason i would recommend that those people without optimal morning sun, afternoon shade growing conditions grow Emily Mackenzie in a pot where she is mobile and her ideal situation can be accommodated. When she is blooming move her to a shaded location. When she is growing give her a good deal of sunlight. Lastly she can be a hybridizers nightmare if you are looking for her to set pods. As a mommy she is terribly fussy. As a daddy she is fine. Taking all that into consideration you will have to make your own judgments on whether or not you want to grow this cultivar. I have found the ideal location for her and she is thriving.

How do you think she would do in a area that she would have to be brought inside during the winter. I have the perfect spot for her during the day time. It gets fantastic morning sun, the shade takes over for the hot afternoons, but wondering if she is too finicky for our winters.
I hear of people putting her dormant all the time....she does just fine
I think she will be on my want list for this summer, thanks. I just love her name, too.
