I got this error report

svchost.exe Application error
The instructions at "0x00000000" the memory could not be read
I know I deleted something (not sure what) with this svchost.??? from the pc
Is there away to restore this program with out having to reformat my PC?
I tried doing a restore, but it won't let me do a restore to a different day.

also I have lost the background picture I had for my desktop. When I go into the display properties, I can't use the background function at all.
