My new Jasminum have arrived from Top Tropicals. I got Jasminum adenophyllum, Molle and Nitidum. They came a few days ago and I potted them as directed and have them in the house until I feel they have adjusted to the changes in temp and shipping. They are beautiful big plants but they have that ugly brownish tone on the leaves that I need to wash off. They explained it was a mineral and organic components of water. I am pleased the way they seem to be recovering from the trip. I am so excited to have new members of my family.
New Winter Arrivals - Jasminum
They are all great jasmines, JBerger! I hope you enjoy their scent as much as I do. In the summer, they will put out a lot of growth.
You are the one who gave me the information on them. I am so excited. Now I need to keep them alive in the GH if and when the sun comes out. LOL I do appreciatea all your help. Hugs.
TT is so hit or miss. I get some great plants and then I get some real turds. One thing I can always count on is they ALL have that brown staining on the leaves. I asked once and they said it was from their pond water. Odd.....
Yea Web, pond water minerals.....whatever it is, it does come off if you have time to mess with it. I still have not gotten mine off. Glad to know I am not the only one who questioned the brown stuff. I would love to see that pond. Ugh! I hope none of it comes alive...like in the horror movies...the brown and green crud that chases people.
I have gotten quite a few plants fromt them, and i don't remember it ever being a issue. It obviously has not stopped the plants from growing-every thing that i have gotten from them has been large and healthy. The plants grow out of the brown spots at any rate. What I do have a problem with is getting plumerias from a florida company that had rust on the leaves-rust can and did spread to my other plumerias. What a pain.....
I've never had any problem with stuff from Top Tropicals either, if there was brown on the leaves at all it went away and the plants have all ended up being healthy (except for ones that really need a more humid environment than California to live in...but that's not TT's fault!)
The Star is blooming and it is a beautiful flower. Looks funny with all the brown leaves. I must wash them off today for sure. . We are having the final blow of a Noreaster and the wind gusts are so strong it takes me off my feet. I hope the GH holds up under these conditions. The electric went out during the night but I maintained a temp of 53 so I am hoping all stays well today. All in all I am very happy with the TT plants. I just need to give them some attention. If I am lucky today the Tree business will be slow and I will have time to do my favorite thing. Play with my jasmine.
