Hummingbirds vs the rain

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

I would like to ask a question of anyone who feeds the hummers in an upward facing feeder. Do you change your hummingbird feeder immediately after a rain or do you just go about your routine schedule? We had rain Friday so I changed the hummer feeders after it had cleared. Then we had a couple more rainstorms and I don't know if I should refresh their sugar nectar food. I feed in a saucer type feeder. Does anyone else have any similar experiences?

Thanks,

Chuck

Sometimes my hummie feeders seem to fill up with water when it rains. It dilutes the mixture so I just dump 'em and refill them...elsewise, if it's going to rain for a long time I usually hang the feeders under my back porch eave - where they are out of the elements.

Change it. I do the same as Cat above. If it really going to downpour move it under cover or at night I will go ahead and bring it in.
