Once it starts to grow it goes crazy. Step back and enjoy.

I was just given an old plant. It has only wispy foliage and was growing in shade. I know nothing about them and would welcome advise. Sounds to me like it needs very high light to direct sun for growing foliage. fertilizer? how wet? thanks in advance.

Doesn't need water for almost 6 months. I gave it a half glass of warm water for those 6 months. Then I put it in full sun, (as much as you can get in this area) and kept it in the hottest part of my home while it was growing. It would start out slowly and the bolt. It never has bloomed but I love it anyway. No fertilizer.
