Hello from North Texas

Wichita Falls, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello! I joined DG last week and have been trying to navigate around! My name is Necia, I'm married and raising 2 teenaged daughters! What a challange! We homeschool, so I am pretty much with them all of the time. It truely is the greatest sacrifice that I have ever made.

I love to garden! We moved into our home in April, so I am just now getting the two small flowerbeds established. I try to only plant xeriscape plants as we don't often get much water! Fortunately, I was able to bring 98 plants with me from the old house.

I think that I have talked my sister into joining DG too! So, maybe we will have another Texan on board soon!

Necia, Welcome !! Glad you are here!
Homeschooling is your greatest sacrifice, but it will probably be one of your greatest blessing to your family. I wish you the best.
98 plants is alot of plants to move. Wow- I give you alot of credit.

Hi Necia and welcome to DG! I have already seen you post somewhere today and meant to welcome you.

I admire anyone that homeschools. It takes dedication and self discipline. Agreeing with Soapwort, you and your family will truly be blessed.

As rain has been hit and miss everywhere, you might consider some rain barrels. That way you can harvest the water to use at a later date. There has been a good deal of discussion about that topic in the Sustainable Alternatives forum if you are interested. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/794236/

Hope to see you in the forums ~ and we hope your sister will join in as well as your daughters. Take care, pod

Thank you, everyone! I am really enjoying my time spent here at Dave's Garden. And Pod, a rainbarrel is now on my Christmas list! I will try to find instructions on building one from an old plastic barrel. I saw some in our area on Craigslist for $2.00 each.

P.S. I did get my Sister, AprilinTX to join, too!
