Our soil is mostly clay and I've had a hard time getting things started. I actually had a load of topsoil dumped in a pile and have been growing things there. I'm looking for anything with a good scent but especially those that perform well in clay. Thanks for responding.

We have poor soil in our county and the copper canyon daisies grow well for me and smell heavenly even before they bloom.

--HI i have russian sage seeds--they are very spacily branched but are very very long blooming and nicely fragrant--clay soils shorten their life time and they dont like loam either but maby some sand and dolimite or other soil ammendment to loosen the soil --mulch might help their long life-they are great to use as a back border plant with shorter plants in front of them--look at some pictures then if you want some seed i can send eighty or so for you to plant in cups as they are very small--eighty cents in postage will get them sent---stevo

OH -- i have lots of magenta 4-O'Clocks [Mirabilis jalapa]
and they have a heavenly aroma.

they get BIG ... and they attract Japanese beetles [so it keeps them from eating your other plants]
and they reseed like the dickens.
