A Winter Visitor

Tulsa, OK

What a delightful surprise - I don't know how on earth this swallowtail butterfly came or hatched at this time of year - it's averaging 45 degrees outside - but low and behold on Thursday we discovered him on Amazon Queen - how strange!! I scrambled to fix him sugar water (as my flowers weren't blooming). He seems to like it and today when AQ was opening up he couldn't resist - sorry about the fuzzy pict but he was fluttering around so much it was hard to get a good pict of him. At least I have my twin flowers & Mr. Butterfly to keep me happy for the next few dismal days - we're expecting temps in the highs of 30s and freezing rain for until Tuesday - ughh!

Great pictures. I love the hibs, but the butterfly is really special at this time of the year.

What a lovely and welcome surprise for you! That Amazon Queen is something else too - I'd love to get my hands on one of those here in So Cal. Our nurseries carry Barry's Hines plants, but I've never been lucky enough to find an AQ despite my many searches :-)

Wow, I am just drooling over your AQ. How wonderful for you to have such a beautiful bloom and the icing on the cake being the butterfly.

A beautiful cheerful site and the hibs are gorgeous as well! Thanks
