Last night I attended this event at Brookgreen Gardens.Every year it gets bigger and bigger and lasts for longer and longer. It has evolved from lights in brown paper bags into lighting displays that are breathtaking. One example is sheets of lights falling down from some of the magnificent live oaks in the alee.
If anyone is down here in the "grand Strand" area it is very worth seeing.
Nights of a Thousand Candles
Oh! I hope you took pictures?? :)
Wish I had time to come down! It sounds magical...Crazy time of the year for me. I work in an elementary school. Although we loooove the holidays of all sorts, the excitement must be redirected during school hours. Takes lots of energy to stay positive and keep them on track. So, I get very behind:-) You know, once I get home and take my shoes off, it's all over, lol!
One day though...
That sounds wonderful. I think about it when we are heading south, that we could stop in a nearby marina (Wacca Wachie) and arrange a tour. Any time of year I'm sure it's beautiful.

In Raleigh we have a Memorial Garden cemetery that lights up its gorgeous. People really ride thru just to see the light patterns.
The flotillas along our coast are beautiful also I saw a few last year .
Love luminaries.
Bev have you ever driven thru Mount Lawn when they are doing this?

I spent the evening in one of your favorite places to dock,Georgetown. The lights were pretty fabulous on Front St. and all the old historic homes were well lit as well.I attended a performance of Forever Patsy Cline at the Swamp Fox theater put on by The Swamp Fox players.Fantastic! Sold out houses for every performance.
Ardesia
There are 2 new restaurants on Front St.for your next visit.
G-town! My home town. Sigh.
I saw the "Forever Patsy Cline" sign on the small theatre in Georgetown. Probably because I'm from the west (Wyoming), I have a soft spot in my heart for anything even slightly country, although that's not what we usually listen to now.

Entlie, you have good taste in music
2 new restaurants - Yummmmmmm
If anyone is in the Charleston area be sure to take in the lights at the James Island County park. It is a 3 mile drive with the most incredibly beautiful and very clever displays.
Lavina~ I have been there, but it's been a while. A tradition we may have to revisit...Thanks for the memory jog:-)
Bev
The local paper carried pictures of "Nights of a Thousand Candles" from Brookgreen Gardens. I'll try to find them and post a link for you. It is truly breath taking and you must see it if you are in the area. It is all candle lights. Candles floating in the ponds. Candles hanging in small clear cups from the trees. All of the pathways are lines with luminaries.
There are some areas that the trees are decorated with white lights.
Now let me try to find you those pictures !!
Sigh, DH is will be in that area tomorrow night and I can't go along this trip. Waaaaaaaa
Ardesia, Saturday was the last night and it was raining so that would eliminate any candles. So sorry--maby next year?
