Dawn - you make such a nice looking couple. It's nice to have the photos to look back on and remember the wonderful day!! My wedding photos are locked away - they're from the 70's and we look geeky!! Eleanor

Dawn, those are lovely! May you always be as happy as you were on that day!

Dawn, you were a beautiful bride (and the groom ain't too bad neither). And how nice of you to choose my birthday for your wedding day ;)

(Zone 4a)

Wow that was your Birthday as well?? What a celebratory day that is then for sure!!!

Thank you for your kind words....

(Zone 4a)

grammy I am sure you do NOT look geeky!!! I love old wedding photo's...hold on I think I have one of my parents too...this would have been taken in the 70's.....she is a true red head and my dad is a true Frenchman LOL

How about a Bride & Groom from June 1942?

Dawn - they make a beautiful couple also!! Yes, we looked similar - DH has the sideburns and me in a similar dress! Pixie - I love the wedding photos from that decade. Are they your parents? Very nice looking couple! I will have to look up some old wedding photos of my family and scan them. Still not sure about mine though. Eleanor

Eleanor, that is my Mom & Dad, he left for Paris 3 days after this photo was taken. He returned 18 months later to a 9 month old baby boy.

Don't laugh, but that's what we looked like 32 years ago. My DH has shaved off the sideburns and I've put on a couple of pounds. He doesn't wear a bow tie either!! In fact he doesn't wear a suit if he doesn't have to. Eleanor

Beautiful wedding photos all! I'm sure they bring back a lot of memories.

I broke up with a boyfriend on a Friday afternoon, and instead of sitting home depressed, I went to a single's dance that night, and met my DH. Told him I recently broke up with someone, he thought I meant months or weeks, not hours.

Dawn - this is a neat thread......you and your mother were both beautiful brides!

Celeste - what a neat shot of your parents!

Eleanor - that is a great shot of you and your DH. You were a lovely bride as well!!

Funny story, Deb. I guess you showed that old boyfriend!!!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

this is fun! I will have to scan mine. It is currently out of the frame because the frame broke...excellent timing. Actually, it has faded and DH wants to reprint it. I got him a slide/negative scanner for his b'day. I have the negs from my wedding photos because a friend of my mom's who had a commercial photography studio gave us the photos for a wedding present (lucky me!).

I love the pics from the 40's weddings, too. So many wartime weddings, so many wartime babies LOL

Let's go back another generation!! This is the wedding photo of my father's parents. Eleanor

And my mother's parents. I've noticed that in all of my photos from this generation, no one is ever smiling!! I guess getting your pic taken back then was serious business!! Eleanor

Grammy those pics are great!!!!!! Your great granpa was a real looker his bride was beautiful!!!! Amazing!!

I think your wedding photo was just lovely.....it just brings you back to another time and then you sort of laugh when you see the styles...I do that now when I look at my pics from the 80's with the BIG HAIR!!! Hahaha those photo's just kill me!!!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

I've lived through so many hair and clothes styles, but I think those of the 60's and 70's are the worst (or should I say funny). But as you said we can look back at them and laugh. I don't mind the styles of other eras but when you're part of an era and to think you actually dressed like that - it's embarrassing!! Eleanor

(Zone 4a)

You are too cute grammy!

Great photos, Eleanor! How lucky you are to have them! What a great-looking family you all are!!

DH and I are not "officially" married, but we did buy and do wear our wedding rings.

I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around our meeting. We never dated, not once!! We worked together in a factory for a year or so. I was in a really bad relationship, police called, jail time served, like that. I had arranged with my ex boyfriends Mom for her DH to come and get his things out of my house. Richard(DH now) offered to come and help me for the weekend, for moral support, heavy lifting, etc.

He never did go back home. He stayed and is still here!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Wow....3G - glad to hear that situation had a happy ending for you! Sounds like you are just as married as the rest of us with the paper! LOL

North Augusta, ON

LOL...we are!! I keep telling DH he owes me a couple of expensive dates...

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks guys!! Threegardeners - nice story and may the story continue on and on!! I think you struck-it-rich with this one!!! Eleanor
