Ahhh, calendula, not marigold.

Just found this article on them written by someone here in the Bay Area. Of note: The only universal problem with calendulas in the San Jose area is mildew. Research has shown some of the calendula cultivars to have enough mildew resistance to warrant chemical sprays unnecessary, especially in the varieties 'Green Crown' and Orange King'. Optimum conditions for development of the causal fungus are frequently present during the warm season.

When I first moved into my house my entire front was filled with calendula and poppies. They reseeded for a couple years until I killed them off unintentionally with planting so many other things. They loved it here.

I fell in love with this one at first sight. I can't believe I never saw it before. There are so many beauties I have never seen. I best get going faster.

Green Crown sounds promising to find too. I have noticed new calendulas this year in bicolors that are so pretty. I even bought a few that languished in their little pots. LOL. So true. Seems so many new cultivars in all flowers. Just think in 20 years they will be incredible.

Ohhh I am so confused. LOL. I just posted that above and the time says 7:14 PM! It was really just after 10 AM.

Did you have that link on yours when I posted mine or did you add it just now at 10:30? Ididn't see it before.

Anyway, I went and googled Green Crown from your post and up came that article. I couldn't find any other reference to Green Crown. But I did go look at the seed companies the article listed. Makes me want to get lots of different seeds for they reseed so easily. My problem is I have no dirt left open in sun. Or very little. Shoot.

Look at this one, looks so cute. And all seem to be different in pack.

Sounds like you have to adjust your time in your info page. For me your post says 10:14 AM

Yes I had the link there but fixed the indent html code.

I was looking at seeds online for all kinds of stuff but I think I will just pick up some packs of the Renee's seeds next time I am in a nursery, her online selection is great but they are available locally.

Oh man, just checked that Parks link, LOVE it. may have to order a packet for spring.

Ah, possibly my absolute favourite annual (you know how I am about orange!)

These are such valuable plants, trouble free and so easy. Some lovely varieties these days, I think I have a packet of these somewhere. Must use them in my new garden :)

Lovely shot Kell.

Oh you are a hot orange lover too, Pretty Sue. I forgot!

Oh be still my heart! My favourite flower and favourite colour! I'm so thrilled about being able to grow kniphofias here (they were only marginally hardy in Maine). Already at the local garden centre I've seen several varieties for sale which even in winter had me salivating with anticipation!

My new garden here is quite small so I'll have to be very choosy about plants, but make no mistake there'll be calendulas!

Sue
