First Brugmansia I ever saw

Lick Creek, IL(Zone 6b)

A few years ago I was in the Cusco/Macchu Piccu area of Peru and this little Hotel had a white Brug in it's courtyard. I assume thats what it was, sure looks like the pictures I see here anyway. The thing was really big (15ft?) and the scent was incredible. I'd been hiking all day so I sat down under it and closed my eyes. A local guy told me I shouldn't sleep under it because it would steal my soul. Later I saw lots of them, in different colors around Lima and other cities. So my question is, is there an original Brugmansia...like an original color white and a bunch of hybrids? I'd like to try to grow one in my sunroom and would like to start with a white one, hopefully with that same sweet scent. Any suggestions as to safe places to buy them? I don't know anybody around here that has any. Should I mail-order, buy on line, ebay? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Steve.

Steve,
There are plenty of brug growers here who will be happy to share with you for
just postage, mostly cuttings this time of the year.

Let people know what you are most interested in growing and you will get lots
of responses.

It will cost $4.60 for a priority mail stamp for one pound or about $8.95 for a flat
rate box.

If somebody would be willing to share I'm more than willing to provide postage and handling. Some basic instructions would be helpful too. Thank you for the response Lou

Steve,
For help with rooting and growing, under the 'Communities' link at the top of the page, you can click on the forum called 'Propagating'. There is a wealth of information from Dgers on almost any gardening problem. You could post your problem and get many responses.

I'll check to see if I can put a package of cuttings together for you. The ones I have come from the generousity of DG friends.

Thank you Louise, Just let me know how to get the money to you for shipping/handling and I'll have it on the way. This is my winter to try new ideas for plants. Last year we built this little "sunroom/plantroom" and its my winter haven. Having a Brugmansia would be a great addition.
