Time for a contest....

Athens, OH

Who can/is willing to post the most Colocasia, Alocasia and Xanthosoma pics to the Plant Guide?

We have fantastic discussions about our EE; we post great pics. But for some reason, they aren't making it to the Plant Files.

Ideally, for each EE, I would love to see us post pics of (1) the whole plant, (2) the leaf, (3) the stem (if it is distinguished) and the (4) flower.

Anyone game?
If you post a pic, please note it here in this post so we can look at it.

Thanks, ROX

I think you win Rox. I am only a newbie with the ears, so I can't be of any help.
Thanks for posting those though, we need all the pictures on the plant files we can get.

Gee whiz, are you a serious collector??? Here, I though I was doing something with my six Alocasias, and one Xanthosoma....I am not even in the same biosphere as you! Congrats! That is a very impressive collection. Can't wait to see them.

Athens, OH

I am sponsoring the contest, so I am exempt.
I still have to figure out the prize, but I promise it will be something an Aroid fanatic will like.

I am not a serious collector. LariAnn, BWilliams and some others would definitely qualify.
But I have had the good fortune to work with the University of Hawaii CTARH Research Station and their Hawaiian taro collection. While in Kauai I took lots of pics that I thought I would share.

Enjoy, and please post pics as appropriate.
Also, let us know if you successfully grow any EE outside year round. This will help others determine zone hardiness.

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Shoot, I wish now that we had taken more photos last season. I will go through what we have and decide if any are good enough to go in the PantFiles. I will try to remember to post good ones next season also ;~)

Athens, OH

The pics don't have to be excellent in quality; some of mine aren't.
Rather, they should show the distinguishing characteristics of the plant, like height; or girth or leaf structure/color or stem structure/color.
I appreciate anyone's willingness to help.

Also, it would be great if the hybridizers would upload some pics of the new market entries!

Any takers?

I am working on something you all will really like, but I am not prepared to unveil it yet. It will take a bit more time.

Rox should of started this contest before first frost. Then again we do need something to help us get through the long Winter nights, like looking at all the new pictures. Thanks Rox. We are all winners.

Ah! Found 1 photo of X. Lime Zinger, which I posted, plus another A. Frydek.
Deb
PS/I posted Lime Zinger under "Alocasia" Lime Zinger, since it says aka "Xanthosoma aurea". I don't know if it's listed under another name elsewhere in PF?

Very interested in seeing the hybrid borneo giant X Aurora pink. How large are the seedlings?

Robertstown, Australia(Zone 10a)

Brian, you are a TEASE!

Also to TrueTropical77, that is the first plant I've ever seen wearing it's own camouflage, LOL!

Ciao, KK.

Red Oak, TX

The hybrid is actually the plant posted on my first post. it is a little under 2ft. although i can't take credit for it... I wish i could but so far all my hybrid attempts have failed. I bought these off of Ebay along with an logiloba X Borneo Giant hybrid ( it's a little over 3ft right now.)

Extremely interesting. I am wondering how large they will get. Most my Mac crosses similar to these end up 3 to 5 feet tall.
