Blooming in December

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I know this probably doesn't surprise Texans but for someone new to Texas this year it does.
first off I have never had luck in keeping them alive through the winter let alone having them blooming in December.
this is one that I got at Chamblee's in August -Bengal Tiger.
and several of the other ones I got in September have buds on them again and yes I am covering them tonight since they are calling for a frost.

Santa is getting me a FlowerHouse SpringHouse Greenhouse so I am already thinking about where to put it and what to get started on in there. LOL

Thanks Josephine I sent the picture to my niece on her cell phone to show my mom in Illinois where they had freezing rain over the weekend.
I saw your post on the mistflower and am gonna have to look around for some of those for the spring planting I love flowers that are fragrant.

Should I cover my roses, too? I am new to roses and thought they would be fine through our mild winters.

The roses will go dormant for a while, but you don't need to cover them, unless you are trying to save some existing blooms a little longer.

Thanks Josephine!

I have to admit I am trying to be a smarty pants so to speak ..since I have bushes budding I want them to bloom so I can take pictures and send to my mom back in Illinois and say gee look what I have in Texas blooming in December...but she doesn't know I am going to get her a rose bush and have it sitting in the greenhouse they are getting me for x-mas so when they get here for x-mas day it will be there waiting for her.

That will be a very thoughtful surprise for your Mom Phyllis.

I want a greenhouse. waaaaaa.

Glad you are getting such a great gift. Speaking as a mother, she will be so happy that you are happy and the rose is icing on the cake.

Taking Santa to the audiologist this morning...think hearing aids are more priority than the GH right now. But I'm thinkin' 'bout it.

I have a rose blooming, too. I don't know what its name is.. Sometimes it blooms yellow, sometimes apricot, and sometimes a mixture of the two.
