his comb is so frostbitten. I've tried vaseline. I dont think its working. Any ideas? It's saskatchewan, which is really cold for a leghorn lol. It even gets below zero in their coop.

(sorry, i've been posting all day trying to get help if u've seen my name a few times)

I'd bring him in the house in a dog crate until you can get it straightened out. I wish I knew what else to tell you. Maybe you could run a heat lamp out to the coop while it is so cold...

I have heard that the frostbitten stuff dries up and falls off.and the stuff thats left is ok, till
that gets frostbitten. then it dries up and falls off. he might look like Henny Penny soon.

knit him a hat.

Ps Thats why we only have short combed breeds here. we keep Dominiques.
Look for rose comb types and you won't have this trouble.

I keep a heat lamp in the Petit Trianon du Poulet for the chickens to come in
and warm up and bit and then they mingle, and go out again.

fireshy, been trying to run you down, I'm afraid he's going to lose the frostbitten black part. It will fall off on its own. It'll leave a black line at the edge but no infection. I've had mine for years after being frost bit. After that I went strictly to rose and pea combs. I left some instructions on one of your threads. You'll find it tomorrow. This is the first picture of him I've seen.
