I have a Terrarium of AV leaves and they have gotten pretty big so I decided today to put in small pots but when I was taking them out I started to pull all this out of my Terrarium. I don't think its roots because it is very long and course,
I will also put this question in the Container form but I thought maybe scents I am growing AV someone might have idea, I use my regular potting soil that I do all my planting with but I have never seen any of this in my plants or in the dirt when I do transplanting
Dimmer,
The next picture will be from my Terrarium
What is this growing?
Good morning!
It looks like human hair with dirt stuck on it.Is that possible? LOL.
No I thought it was the same thing but its not. It looks like Fishing line but I don't fish and I am the only one here
Lom
Maybe someone at the dirt factory was going fishing the day they bagged your dirt and dropped it. .hee,hee. You have a mystery!
Yes I do
I've seen that type of stuff in bromeliad soil. I always thought it was like a coco fiber or something. Maybe hair?! Yuck! LOL
Are you using a soil-less mix with perlite and vermiculite added? I have never seen anything like this in the mix I just mentioned.
It's a moss!!!!!!
I just cleaned out my fish tank and lo and behold, this hairy/fish line type stuff was growing in there!!!! A light bulb came on and I yelled out loud "that's what Dimmer's got!!" (Mom thinks I've lost it)
that is weird looking, threegardeners.................yikes.........where did it come from??
Growing in my aquarium--I have all live plants in there, don't like the plastic, fake ones, and there it was, growing amongst the other plants.
My gosh how does it get there any idea? so its Moss Wow that is pretty weird Thanks
Dimmer/Kim
Dimmer...I think it's some Osmunda fern fiber that wasn't 'chopped' enough before put into your potting mix.
(Many potting mixes have Osmunda fern fiber within, but it's usuallly very well 'chopped'.
threegardeners - I think you're right about yours, it looks like some 'live' spagnum moss to me.
Also part of some potting mixes and usually 'dead' when we receive it, either in our potting mixes or seperately as 'dried sphagnum moss'.
