would it hurt to

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

take a cutting on a flowering brug?? I have two that are very nicely shaped except for a limb coming up from close to the bottom. Didn't take it off when it was small because I wanted to maybe trade or something, but now I think the plant would look so much better without it, but will not sacrifice the blooming. (I don't need this cutting for a trade, if that helps)

No problem taking a lower branch off a flowering brug. I have done it lots of times. That's how I got most of my x knightii for trades.Hope this helps

tiG,a trader sent me some cuttings from a brug in California and I stuck it in dirt to root.Just noticed it has 4 buds coming out on it and its only 1 1/2 foot tall so I don't think it will hurt it. CC

CC, what kind of new brugs did you get? more buds? way to go!

Arlene,The little brug with the buds is a unnamed white that the trader said was growing wild on the hills around her home.It could be jimsom weed for all I know. She said its tinged with pink.I'm going to fax an order to Hodniks this week if I can get DH to loosen up on the grip he has on the credit card, was going to use my debit card but I'm afraid to do that.I did get some from others who took pity on a northern crybaby!!!Thanks Susan and Bonnie!! jutner orange, frost pink, charles gramaldi, and some whites,I'm catching up to the other addicts on this board!!LOL.One of my spare bedrooms is going to be a brug room this winter.

CC, looking outside, mine are growing so big I'm afraid one room won't do it!!! My DH looked around the other day in fear:) I can see brugs as Christmas trees, hat racks, etc!

I see Chistmas lights twined around the limbs, garland draped from branch to branch and all of the men in our lives going "What the #*%$"!!!!

DH wanted to decorate one fom a christmas tree last year, i didn't want to hurt the branches. after hauling in and out i cut them back and left them outdoors sometime in january. BUT planning on having to keep my new babies i am not sure about inside or rig a greenhouse...
