lets see you christmas plants showing off this season!
this is a poinsettia from last year that i planted outside in feb
its beginning to look a lot like Christmas....
Did you have to cover your poinsettia to give it short nights or did it color naturally? I might try one at my Biloxi house.
all natural... this is on a southeast exposure
Trent, that's interesting as I thought you had to cover the poinsettia from October on to force the blooms. Maybe I'll try one this year. I have to deliver 375 poinsettias (individual to houses) on Dec 5 & 6 so I'm sure there will be a couple left over I can snag.
just remember to cover them on the REAL cold nights (mid 20's and below)
So that poinsettia is in the ground? WOW!
yep... behind the fireplace/ chimney, but we have gas logs, so most of the heat goes to the house, so i really don't think it gets any heat
That poinsettia is amazing, it must not get any artificial light back there at night. Keep us posted on that one.
Good growing Kiddo.
thanks ardesia.... that plumeria you gave me..... it will not stop growing! i have it in the garage, very little light and it has gotten to the 50s in there, no water. the leaves wouldn't drop, so i took all the leaves off to try to force it dormant, and it still is growing!!! that is one vigorous seedling! are yours like that? is this normal for seedlings to be so vigorous?
They are vigorous aren't they? Those seeds were collected in Panama by another DG'er, Gordon Hawk. The parent plant has white flowers but we will not know about ours until they bloom. You are obviously giving it good care. Did you pot it up into a 3 gallon?
i did repot it. i'm assuming it is a 3 gal. but i'm not exactly sure nevertheless it is bigger, and i guess that is all that really matters
You got it. :-)
hey Bdunn, how'd the poinsettia delivery go for you?
Believe me....375 poinsettias delivered to individual houses takes longer than you'd think! Whose idea was this anyway?! LOL! The first day was so-o-o cold here and we were on golf carts with lots of breeze. We finished today and I'm tired of wishing everyone Merry Christmas - if you know what I mean. Had dinner with a friend tonight and we were talking about how much I miss HHI. Wish I could go home. Trent, always treasure where you are and where you've been raised........never forget as it's a special place.
You're sweet to ask.
Barbara
thanks... well, i've learned that from moving. its hard to not have a "the grass is greener" attitude if u no what i mean
Yep, you're right.
Those water droplets look like snow. :-)))
Maybe that is just wishful thinking; I am in Fl and it is hot in Jacksonville today.
it is our last day if warm weather before DUN DUN DUNNNNN.......the cold front! (bloodcurdling screams and shrieks of terror) envisioning people panicing and running around franticly trying to prepare for the terrible monster that is cornering us, reaching for the pathetic Southeast with its piercingly cold hands, only to sap the life out of every green living thing.......
but yes it does kind of loo like that..... but there is one problem... the only poinsettias i have seen with snow have either been dead or fake.... i'm just ginving you a hard time! ill stop }:-) (like the evil smile???)
LOL
You must give your parents fits. :-)))))
actually i leave them alone... i only do that to sibilings and frinds usually
