CLOSED: Seed without a home?

(Zone 7a)

Hello, All. I need your help. I am looking for any seeds that don't have a home. I am in z5a. If you have ANYTHING that you have too much of, I would appreciate them and take good care of them. I don't have anything to trade, so all I could do is send a SASE.

Thanks to all in advance. Kwanjin

Thank you so much! I don't have those yet. I never know when it's okay to contact someone but I'm finding everyone is being generous, like you said! Are you in the address list? I can send out an envelope tomorrow. I will be sure and write which ones I would like.

Thanks again! Kwanjin

Hi Kwanjin,

The first thing we need to know is how experienced are you in starting plants from seeds? That will tell us what kind to send you along with your zone.

If you'd like Blackcurrant Swirl daturas. Dmail me your addy.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Drats...still a newbie here! Can daturas be grown up there X?? Anyway Kwanjin, I'm likely to have other seeds too.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Yes they can as an annual .. might want to check if she has small children or pets that like to nibble plants before sending out dats ..

Oh an Kwanjin .. happy birthday!!

(Zone 7a)

That would help, Xeramtheum, wouldn't it. I have NO experience except what I have winter sown. Hollyhocks, Gaillardia, Liatis and such like. Anything I can winter sow. I'm going to try my hand at MGs that another has sent me. I tried early on in my career as a gardener but I didn't know much and no luck. I've been gardening about 10 years now.

(Zone 7a)

I do have two cats that like to eat the grass. They have on occasion nibbled my carex but haven't noticed anything else. BUT that doesn't mean they won't! They are both pretty well-behaved cats and will not touch things after I tell them "NO"!!! LOL

And thanks for the Happy...! I have the day off and am going to spend it with my feet up!

Thanks, Misty!!! Having a good time today what with being off and all!!! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh I bet you are! :)

(Zone 7a)

Now I'm just sitting and reading and watching the snow melt with my feet UP!!! Waiting for DH to come home so we can go to dinner.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

SNOW? Have you started winter sowing yet then?

(Zone 7a)

Some of the things I already had are in. I just let them drop and then do my clean up in the spring. The things I will be getting are for the back where it's still pretty bare. Maybe you've seen in the background of some of the pics I've sent.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I have some morning glory seeds, cypress vine seeds, and yellow double datura seeds. Send sase with a note as to what you want.

Well, if I seen em I don't member it! LOL Send me a pic so I know what you are trying to fill in! :)

(Zone 7a)

Here's my back wall. Full sun after about 10:30am. This is a wisteria and farther along are a Rose of Sharon, Redtwig Dogwood, and Iris.

The Muhgo Pine and small tree all the way in the back died this summer. I stll don't know why. Too much water is what I think.

The Arundo Donax is coming out in the spring. The Buckthorn is staying. We started out with a Japanese theme but DH wants a little more color. Hence the need for seeds. Can't afford much else right now.

Or cuttings, if anyone has those. I have a larger GH that we're putting up in the spring.

The west wall has a Lilac and Fragant Sumac. Oh and some Money Plants.

That's it back there. Along the back of the house where it's shady, I have quite a few things. That part is done for now.

Hey Kwan, I wanted you to know I am not really here right now. I just learned that my neighbor passed away, so just not quite here. :(

(Zone 7a)

Oh Misty! I'm so sorry! Were you close? I'm clouding up just for YOU!

(Zone 7a)

On second thought, go take care of yourself and we'll see you later.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

We wasn't really close til she after she had lost her husband and then her son. Her husband died 3 years ago this month, and her son died of an overdose a year ago this past July. I had known her son for several years, and never realized for the longest time that he was their son. Our 5 year old daughter absolutely loved her, and so did my 13 year old son. She hadn't been coming over lately and I am angry at myself for not checking on her. She always called me the water witch cause I was always outside taking care of my plants, and I called her the dry witch cause she never watered hers! I now have many plants around my home that will always be special because they came from her own garden.

(Zone 7a)

Misty, I'm sorry for you. I'm assuming she lived alone then?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

thanks kwan. she did live alone as all her other family doesn't live near her. She did get occasional company from her brother, son, and daughter, but that was about it. we had so much fun bickering back and forth this last spring and summer. she loved coming over to see what all we was doing as we was always planting something, or building something, and she was just in awe of what we had done with this place. I want to be sure to learn how to propagate what she has given me so I can share with my many friends on here and have a piece of her all over the world.

(Zone 7a)

Thats' a neat thing to do.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

kwanjin, I see you have Arundo Donax and anice clump of it do you know how long it took for it to take off? I have some and it hasn't started to multiply yet this will be the third year for it coming up.

(Zone 7a)

I should send you a warning about it. You have to keep it in check or IT WILL TAKE OVER!!! LOL That's why we're removing it. It keeps pushing the wall up and the more we cut it back in the summer, the more it multiplies. We just can't keep up with it anymore.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

What part of the summer do you cut it back? I have mine planted in the field has plenty of space to run about an acre. I planted it infront of my compost piles to hide them lol So if I cut mine back it will multiply more that's cool, want to trade for some this spring? I'll send you a trade list in the spring :)

Shoot me a dmail if you want to :) I have to go to town for a while but I'll be back after dinner.

(Zone 7a)

Thank you everyone for your offers. I have plenty of offers now.

Thanks again, Celia
