I was sent this wonderful Hibiscus in a round robin, And it doesn't have any information for it.
Has any one seen it or know anything about it.

Thanks,Pheadra

This is a photo from earlier. The colors are about the same as in the photo.

This is the very first bloom, I hope to get a photo when it fully opens.

What an awesome and unusual plant foliage and bloom! I love that!

Don't have a clue what it is, but I like it.

Hi Pheadra, this looks similar to one I have called "Haight Ashbury" ( Hibiscus acetosella)

Heres a article I found on it, http://msucares.com/news/print/sgnews/sg07/sg070222.html

And heres a pic of mine...

Here's my Haight Ashbury. Funny, I have never seen mine bloom. It always has buds but I somehow miss the flowers if/when they open.

I may be missing out by now growing hibiscus! Our winds are just so high and batter the poor plants.

Gosh and golly, I can't believe it but my Haight Ashbury did bloom. I have just been missing it I guess.

Dave, does your plant sprawl? Since I have put mine in the ground the branches seem to grow out rather than up.

This is one awesome plant. Amazing foliage it has and a bloom to boot!

Is this a tropical or hardy hibiscus? Love the look!

Ardesia, I have only had mine since October so I'm not sure about the growth habit yet.

Does anyone know if it will produce viable seed ? And if so, does the offspring resemble the parent plant?

Wow! What a beauty! I'm now wondering how it would do in my zone. All you guys that are posting pictures are in warmer zones than me...

Off to look it up.

Careful...
This particular Hibiscus, despite it's interesting foliage, is HIGHLY invasive. It manufactures kabillions of seeds and shoots them all over the place. It can become very large when placed in ground. It has tiny little spikes that make it a nightmare to prune.

If you absolutely MUST have it, keep it in a pot on your patio away from surrounding soil of any kind. If you don't, you'll have a full time job plucking hundreds of these from your garden bed.

Spoilsport! LOL

I had no idea it could be invasive. Thanks for the heads up. Here I was lamenting my plant did not bloom. Now I am sorry it did bloom; with foliage like that you don't need flowers.

Yoohoooooo Gordo
If you have kabillions of seed will you please be so kind and share with me in Sweden PLEEEEASE
