'Lomita Lady' (Thompson/Kartuz) begonia question

Chicago, IL

Hi -

This past spring, I got a begonia called Lomita Lady from Kartuz. It was supposed to be quite free-flowering and vigorous. It seemed fine in the small pot since I only received a plant with one stem, and because I thought it is better not to over-pot, I didn't change things especially as I have gotten a second stem growing. However, I have never gotten any flowers at all, and it was on a windowsill where my Matchmaker and Sinbad flowered all summer. What is also a little weird is that the second small stem has leaves that look different - they have fairly extensive striping that is not obvious on the leaves growing from the main stem.

Since some of you have so many beautiful begonias, I'd appreciate any suggestions regarding what I might have done wrong, and how I could fix it next season - thanks!

Scuba, nothing to worry about re the 2nd stem that produced lvs that are
different from the lvs on your original stem. Mine do that all the time. As that
2nd stem grows and matures, the lvs will begin to look like those on the orig stem.
I think it might go back to what parents were used for creating the hybrid.
I don't know what to tell you about the lack of flowers. As long as your plant appears healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of flowers. Those
will come in time.
