Planters for forcing bulbs

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

I've been hunting for saucer like planters to force some bulbs and am having no luck find anything that isn't either ugly or too expensive. Can anyone suggest a source? Thank you

you mean like terra cotta saucers that they use under the terra cotta pots?
i saw some earlier this year at sutherland lumber (like a home depot) fairly cheap.

Yes, I've been looking for something like that. Maybe I'm operating on a different wave length than my local stores, sigh.

doccat you and me both. it seems like i am always on the hunt for something that nobody sells locally. they all carry the same stuff. for example if i wanted to buy a knockout rose i could go anywhere to buy, but a rugosa, forget it!

I can relate Len123. And I want to start a moss rose garden. I found a couple new sites from the Rose forum that has multiple moss roses. Thinking about doing an oval with moss roses (which are mostly reds and pinks) and white CA poppies and maybe some lavender interplanted. I'm playing with the drawing on paper. I love their texture and they are very hardy, like most of the scrubs and rugosas. I love teas, but I'm tired of baby sitting.

i've planted a few mosses this year,common moss,henry martin,louis gimard, cesonie,
gabrielle noyelle, jeanne de montford, goethe. crested moss was a stick and died.
i've only got 3 teas and they are all dainty bess. we'll see if they make the winter.
i've planted about 150 roses this year. i've just been going through compiling a list of what i want to get for next year. i plan to have a broad diversity of roses here that are hardy for my zone, although i've probably already included something with most that i already have. mainly just species and odds and ends must haves. i'm getting to where i can't rememer what roses are what. i tried metal plant labels but removed because they are to easy to mow over. i've got papers stuck in drawers that tell me some.
good luck on the planning. i give up on that!lol. i usually get everything at once and plant impromtu. i never know for sure until i get the tiller started and on our way. it gets easier after you start filling space up.

Oh my! I am so jealous, LOL. Hubby killed off about 25 of my antique and moss roses about 10 years ago, it was an accident, but I was NOT a happy camper. Please provide pictures when they bloom. That will be yummy. The deal with the tiller has got to be gender/testosterone related. Hubby has been having a lovely time "playing" with his new TroyBilt Horse.

lol. just makes things a lot easier!
