Sam is a Kleine Lady x Rubiline cross by Ludger Schneider. This is her first bloom and it looks as if once she finishes coloring up (this is the first day that she opened) she will mature to be a very dark pink. I think she is a cute little bloom.

My DIL has this one- she loves it. A cutting received at BGI RU-Fall 2006, it grew well but stayed small. Perfect for a container! The blossoms are also small but this one is a prolific bloomer ............................ and yes, I got a cutting from her this Fall!!! lol!

So cute! I love the little ones!

She is so pretty, you are so lucky. I cannot wait until mine grows enough to bloom. Mine is still just a stick with leaves..

Brenda B, I got this one at the fall 2006 swap also. She is the perfect container plant because she does grow very slowly. I won't even cut on mine for fear that I will have to wait an eternity for the limb to grow back!!

X,
That bloom is so beautiful. I have a small rooted Sam plant also, that I got recently. It hasn't bloomed yet~I am really looking forward to it now. Nice to know about the size (staying small-didnt know that!)

Can you believe my DIL massacred this baby? Hers was less than 4' and bushy. She cut it back to the ground, despite my encouragement for her to dig, pot and bring into the greenhouse- so the rootball is outside, waiting under heavy mulch, to go thru a north Georgia winter- should be okey but darn, it could have done fine in her greenhouse, and gotten a headstart in the spring.

Course, I didn't say no to the two logs she shared with me! LOL! One of which I shared with a brug friend and they are both doing great! I am impressed with how many blossoms this one puts on.

Hope to see you at the Spring RU!

PS- I would share photos but they look exactly like yours! Nice presentation.

I just love the color of this guy. Just wondering why people are calling this plant a she. The original Sam was a Great Pyrenees of ours that was hit by a car and went through a tough time. Delisa was so sweet in naming this Brug after him. A pod sister, Peanut, was named after one of her dogs. Sam has not been a very good grower for us, unlike Adeline, another pod sister, that was as big as my arm this year. I am taking cuttings of Sam in hopes to start him in a new place and see if we can get more growth from this new plant.

Nice pictures Gary, thanks.

Hey Ken! Peanut was named by the hybridizer Ludger after one of Bonnie's beloved dogs. I didnt name Peanut.

I did name Ludgers hybrid 'Pink Smitty' after my friend Arlene who is called Smitty. I have always love that name Pink Smitty. Arlene named one of Eric Knights crosses 'Pink Floyd' after her father Floyd.

Here is a photo of a 'Sam' cross by me. Rothkirch X Sam.
