Though not really orchid cactus, this is the nearest forum to ask. I have these in my collection of epiphyllums. They all came from the same neglected lot. I would like to know a bit more about this type of cactus as I now have about 20 hanging in their own shadehouse. They are starting to look nice and green and healthy, also some are going to flower.
I will post pics in the hope of someone being able to ID them . There are a few labels but no guarantee they are even in the right pots. I will put what names are there on the pics. Thanks in advance for any info.
No. 1 label says rhipsalis 'neves armondii'
Help with ID please.
Oh, Jean, I wish I could help you with ID'ing these guys. Just don't have the experience but must tell you I am just green with envy!!!!! What a great group you've found...hope someone pipes in soon with help. Deb
Hello Depsi. I hope you and the plants are not too cold. It is very hot here today . I am not looking forward to the heat but then again I would not like all your cold either. My epis are liking the heat and I still have 2 to flower. I wish you and anyone else on a very Happy Christmas and I hope the New Year brings everyone great things.
Jean.
Hi Sunset,
Here are a few reference sites I find useful
For Rhipsalis & Schlumbergera Etc http://www.rhipsalis.com/
For Epiphyllums http://www.angelfire.com/ca/SSaSSSy/Epiphyllum.html & http://www.epiphyllumsociety.org/index.html
For Selenicereus http://cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus=Selenicereus & http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Cactaceae/Selenicereus.html
Oh, and 3 & 5 look like Selenicereus to me but I'd need to see the flowers to confirm it.
Ciao, KK.
I think I may have a couple of the rhipsalis. When I get a chance, I will check the tag and get the names. Its hard to tell if they are the same plant or not though.
Hello kk. Thanks for the links. I think I will have better luck with ID when they all flower. So far only 4 have flowered and they look like aporocactus to me.
Have a great time over Christmas and stay safe. happy gardening. Jean.
Here's another good link that I've used to identify plants: http://www.ecology.org/tropicals/
Thank you Clare. I will be able to use these links after my plants flower and it will be good to have their right names. Jean.
