My turkey was perfect according to one guest. I used Williams-Sonoma's remote thermometer probe to watch the internal temp of the turkey so it never got above 165 degrees in the thickest part of the breast. It has a voice that comes on and lets you know when you food is almost ready. I used this to adjust oven temperature and hold the turkey at a lower temp for a while so it would be on time with the other food. So, that's my triumph.
Not a true tragedy, but it would have been nice if I had the carpets cleaned. It didn't feel too bad though since we had two puppies about 8 weeks old visiting for Thanksgiving.
My tip: I used an inexpensive thermos coffee pitcher (less than $10 at Wal*Mart) to hold the hot gravy in that I made earlier to keep it hot. I then transferred the gravy to a gravy pitcher that has a holder with small candle underneath to keep the gravy hot. I purchased the gravy pitcher with candle holder from Wild Oats for around $15. It was plain white so it blended in okay with my serving dishes.
Funny story: Our big dog ( who is not allowed in the kitchen) was eyeing the turkey and tried to sneak in when I had my back turned.
