Help! Who is this guy?

Indialantic, FL(Zone 10a)

I found a new caterpillar in my yard today. I've never seen one like it. He/she was crawling up my rain barrel being chased by a lizard. It's about an inch and a half in length. Really hairy but with a hairless brown and white face. I was hoping it was a skipper but can't find it in any of my books. I brought it in and put it in one of my butterfly cages. I don't know what it's host plant was as the rain barrels are near my butterfly garden and my areca palms.

Does anyone know what it is?
Here's pic 1.

maybe a scarlet bodied wasp moth?

Terrie, does it have a yellow stripe on its head?

Bright yellow? It has a body color stripe or bare spot. The body and the "fur" has a yellowish tinge.

I was thinking maybe the Salt Marsh moth cat:

See how it has a distinctive head?

It does look like the one I found. I put him in an empty butterfly cage. Wonder if I need to put anything in there besides a stick. Wonder if he/she needs leaves or anything.

thanks!

I would put some dried leaves in there in case he's ready to pupate and some fresh leaves of various plants to see if he's hungry.

He must be fast to out run a lizard! lol
